Violation of the health code? Those ashes were probably the cleanest thing in the restaurant. You do realize it takes a thousand degrees or more to incinerate a body like they do. Can't get much more sterile than that!

If you're eating at Applebees, an urn of cremated ashes is the least of the health codes you should worry are being violated.
Thank you.
As for SlickSnake...the onus is on you to prove your point. So far all we have are UNFOUNDED ASSERTIONS IN CAPITALS.:D

I think that I would be more concerned about all of the dust in the room, instead of a vase full of sterile ashes.

I'd be more worried about the minimum wage "chef" picking his arse before making the salad.

Indeed. I'm glad people have made remarks regarding Applebee's. I had a buddy that, back in Highschool/college, was a host for the local Applebee's.

the stories about that place....Oh man. Jizz in the soup, cock-a-roaches nesting in the tea vats.

lol at the ignorant pussies complaining about cremains.

fucking idiots.

Another vote for douchebag move. Those jars are sealed, it's not like the ashes are gonna go anywhere. And stop being a busy body and listening to other peoples' conversations.

You should have bought them dinner. That was very cool on those folks, taking mom around to her favorite spots. What an asshat.

I wouldn't care in the slightest that they had the urn on the table. I see NOTHING at all wrong with it. (I have my grandfather and my mother in urns in my closet...just haven't decided what to do with them)

There are laws that govern the "scattering of ashes," although they're a mish-mash of laws that change from state to state...and by federal law. (ocean disposal must be 3 miles from shore, inland waters may require an appropriate permit per US laws governing drinking water, etc.)

I will pile on and vote douche move by the op.

Those people just wanted some closure with their loved one. They thought it would be a good idea to have one last go around to those favorite spots. Seriously you overreacted you could have just asked to move.

I know someone that kept a small amount of ashes so that they can go to Hawaii and skatter some on their favorite beach. I won't tell you where op. I just want you to know that all of Hawaii is now contaminated with someone's ashes.

The deceased was cremated in an oven between 1600 to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit.

There will be more bacteria on the table the OP was eating off of, or the bottle of ketchup shared, than the urn and its contents.

Upon first reading I thought that this was one of the saddest things I've ever read

My wife and I found the idea of a cremated body in the next booth both ghoulish and a violation of the health code. We called the manager over and asked him to enquire about it.

Then I read this

And they had no rational reason to lug the urn in there in the first place. Sounds like something 18 year old Emo Goths would do just to piss people off and record it for LOL on youtube.

All I can say is if you people are our future I weep for humanity.

I really want to make a parody thread, but I'm not sure if anyone would get it.

Wait. This isn't a parody thread? The OP actually did that and Slick Snake isn't just trolling us? D:

Ashes ain't no thang. If it was their zombiefied mother on the other hand...

Cremated ashes must be a biohazard. I mean that's why they put them in a jar and tell you to take them home with you. Put them on a mantle of your fireplace where they'll be safe and whatnot.

I agree with the masses...

What you complained about was not only insensitive, but shallow and ignorant.
