So this nutty lady wants parents to dump their kids off at the playground and leave them there unattended for the day. The columnist says this is a horrible idea 1) because 7 year olds think a cape allows them to fly and 2) because we live in a much more dangerous world today than we did in the 50s-70s, etc. So while she may be correct that it's quite possible bad things could happen if hundreds of unsupervised rugrats are left to their own devices (although outside at a park as long as they don't wander off I imagine there wouldn't be much more than some scrapes and bruises), she plays the whole "I remember the good old days when kids were free to roam the streets and people left their doors unlocked and crime was non-existent. You know, that mythical time that never existed."
