Thanks @Bitek and @dullard. I'll give it a shot. He's a nice guy albeit misguided. He'll sometimes go into crazy conspiracies and I have no hesitation telling him "you're being crazy"

The thing to realize about vaccines is the quicker your immune system reacts to the foreign presence the less viral load you’ll have.

The chart above shows the standard population growth for a virus. A small amount gets into your system, some dies off before the infection gets a foot hold. The population of virus starts to double. Eventually a peak is reached when the immune system gets a handle on it. The virus totals drop until your system is cleared

Or you die and the total virus population drops because there are no living cells to infect.

With a vaccine that 100% of maximum yield of virus is a much smaller number of viral particles. This is because it only has time to double say 8 times before the immune system wipes it out instead of 16 times without the vaccine.

Less viral load means fewer symptoms and less time infectious.

Not a good thing, if he doesn't end up on deaths door, he'll be on his show telling his millions of followers that Ivermectin works.

The only good outcome is if he gets deathly ill, and recants this bullshit, or dies as another high profile Ivermectin covidiot.
And many that spend months in the ICU on a ventilator and are of the small percentage that survive will only grant their miraculous recover to their god, fuck the medical people that busted their ass to save their worthless ass.

Face it, we live in a society where 40% of the people have completely lost touch with reality and reason, and if we are still here with COVID in 10 years, that percentage won't change more than a few points.

IIRC Rogan started the whole ivermectin craze by featuring that crazy doc on his show.

Survival of the smartest. Natural selection in action. One can't address a threat if one doesn't have the brains to acknowledge it in the first place

Not content with simply refusing the vaccine, Georgian neanderthals are also now harassing/shutting down state vaccination clinics and identifying and harassing nurses working there.

According to some, they are just expressing their 1st Amendment rights, just ignore the fact that they are threatening people with bodily harm for trying to protect others from a deadly disease.

/s just in case yada yada yada

I really don't know which place is worse, Texass or Floriduh

This is...I don't know. It's using one case of extreme to paint an ugly brush for all visitors. Reality is that it's a shit sandwich with no one actually enjoying it. Dying alone (or at least without a spouse/kids around you is fucking hard. Not all patients dying are covid related. Same with births. Not being there for your kids birth is pretty awful. You can't hold your wife's hand. Can't hold the baby. It just fucking sucks.

Right, but it endangers others. Not just the patients, or even the visitors, but the staff as well.
They are already over worked. They already put up with a lot of bullshit. They are already at the breaking point, and visitors add a significant burden on them.

Because it is so emotional almost no one will do the right thing when asked to voluntarily do so. When it is your loved one you always feel that you are the exception. So we need rules to protect our medical system, our medical professionals, and even ourselves, because we know that in that situation we are not in a good mental place to make good decisions.

Visitation policies (or specifically, no visitors) are not a new thing to hospitals. It's not uncommon pre-covid to see emails go out to healthcare systems notifying that ICU's are going on lockdown during peak flu seasons and limiting visitations. Most of the time it's not an outright ban. It's more just very reduced hours and you can't stay as long.

The visitation restrictions right now are really disruptive to a lot of patient care. My wife for example has a job where she needs to educate heart failure and heart transplant patients on a long scroll of meds they have to take. Usually patients are so overwhelmed it's their spouse or adult children that will join them to the clinic visit and take notes, ask questions, and just be second set of ears. Those guests aren't allowed now and it's really providing some negative consequences to patient care. Some of these meds if they miss them it's dire consequences. People are putting off visits because they can't have a family member join them. People put off elective surgeries because they can't be there post op. It just sucks.

The data you're looking at includes pre-delta variant stats. The numbers are changing daily due to reduced efficiency against delta. When the guy who is Chief Investigator on the University of Oxford COVID-19 Vaccine (ChAdOx-1 n-CoV-19) trials says the delta has eliminated the possibility of herd immunity, it's probably not bs. Vaccinated folks are still being infected and spreading covid. The bigger problem is that many vaxxed people don't seem to realize how at risk they are to catch and spread the disease. Vaxxed or not we should still wear a mask, distance and wait for the real solution.

You missed the “Right now in my State” part or simply ignored it.
Since delta became common time after time we have seen vaccinated people go to the Hospital and die far less frequently than the unvaccinated. There is simply nothing else to understand. The vaccines work.
The vaccines are really good at keeping you alive and out of the hospital.

This whole 1.5, going on two year experience has taught me that maybe we should spin up another eugenics program or you know, invest in education. The ivermectin crazy doc wasn't totally crazy. There was research done which I mentioned, but in a petri dish. I'm pretty sure butane would also kill viri, but I'm not a doctor or biologist.

OTOH, there was or is some mild research in giving some patients antibiotics at the first sign of COVID. While the data doesn't hold water due to antibiotics being for bacteria, it supposedly helps tamp down the cytokine storm from being too strong in certain individuals.

I'm due for my third shot soon due to having a weaker immune system than most, but even I constantly worry of being a breakthrough case. Because I have shit luck with things like this.

He obviously wanted to get rid of her and COVID was "just an excuse".

Besides, it didn't happen to HIM.
Lost her son. STILL won't get vaxxed:

Lost her son. STILL won't get vaxxed:
That reasoning is incomprehensible.
There is no reasoning with someone whose feels are greater than that of the science.
Even having a dead kid.
