This is what I don’t understand. I know otherwise intelligent people, normally conservatives, who are more afraid of the vaccine than the virus. My wife was talking to a friend she grew up with in Alabama. He has three degrees and is a practicing attorney. He was babbling on about the government sending mixed messages, the GOP, scared to get the vaccine, etc. He has various medical issues that makes him more susceptible to the virus. WTF is wrong with these people?

Yup.

When i took my 1st dose, i had to sit for 30 minutes and wait for possible adverse reactions. Behind me, there was a woman on the phone talking about how the vaccine had heavy metals in it and, if you put a magnet on the spot you took your vaccine on, it would be stuck in place ... there were "other gems" like that but that one was the one i remember the most ... i was laughing the whole time she was on the phone ...

125 campers and adults who attended a church camp in Houston, TX area tested postitive. Hundreds more were exposed and no telling the number of contacts. Doesn't say how many of that 125 were vaccinated.

My own FL county had a large increase in cases, many of which were from children's summer camps.

Just a cautionary note if you have children and are thinking about camp.

Not looking forward to the post COVID infection numbers that will come out about 3 weeks from the 4th of July holiday weekend. With the Delta variant around, it may not be pretty.

I gather some vaccines (possibly not the COVID ones) have Thimerosal in them, as some sort of preservative, and that has mercury in it, which is, I believe, a heavy metal. So I'd guess that's where the story got started.

I also think I remember reading that they specifically removed the thimerosal from at least some vaccines (while others never had it in the first place).
 
Thimerosal is an antibacterial agent. It's been banned from use in childhood vaccines. It is still used in very small quantities in some adult vaccines. Thimerosal uses ethylMercury, which apparently clears quickly from the body as opposed to other formulations that accumulate in the body. The typical US adult knows about as much about science as the ancient Greeks knew about calculus 🙄.

Who could have predicted predicted this?! Given that the scientist's who developed this are, apparently, Quacks and that the government officials pushing vaccination are Quacks; this simply shouldn't be happening. /double plus sarcasm

And...Some guy being interviewed on the news yesterday; 'I've survived 68 years without this vaccine; my immune system is strong enough. I don't need a vaccine'. I kid you not.

I don't like Jim one bit and especially since he switched from D to a R during a Trump rally but to be fair he has went against the grain and pushed hard to test everyone in prisons and protect those in nursing homes. He also ordered the wildly unpopular mask mandate which ticked a ton of people off. He's doing the right thing for everyone by pushing the vaccine but it's going to fall on deaf ears including those of my sister and mother.

The mask mandate ended in June though and I have a feeling thanks to the selfish it could end up being implemented again if Delta takes hold.
