So I'm listening to Pantera's version of Planet Caravan, and it got me to thinking. What cover songs do you think were properly done? What cover songs do you think were butchered beyond repair? My local rock station had a facebook status a while ago, asking the listeners if classic rock bands should allow their songs to be "updated". What say you, OT??

Whitesnake Medley done by Jorn Lande. He does Coverdale better than Coverdale. His Dio album was also godly.

Tori Amos-Smells Like Teen Spirit is probably my favorite cover of all time.

Even Kurt Cobain said he liked her version.

Also, I liked Alien Ant Farm's 'Smooth Criminal'.

MTV did a retrospective of Metallica several years ago where they had popular artists do their versions of Metallica tunes. I can't remember which song it was, but Snoop Dogg did one. Avril Levine did 'Fuel' and it really, really reeked.
