wow, I think that is the best layne stanley cover voice ever.

Not sure if you actually listened but I disagree 100%.

Yea I listened, but I didn't think it was that good. A good cover is one in which you don't mind hearing in place of the original. That ain't one of them.................not to me anyway. But music taste is truly varied from person to person.

I love that song to by the way, so maybe I am biased.

EHHHHHH

That is one of those songs trying to make a cover of will probably come up short.

No way! This cover is great. Mikael Akerfeldt sounds great using a normal singing voice.

One of my favorite covers is probably Stargazer by Dream Theater. It blew me away. I met Jamies LaBrie and talked to him about it for a minute.

So Into You -Shudder to Think (Atlanta Rhythm Section)

Destination Unknown -The Replicants (Missing Persons)

Sexy Sadie -Radiohead (The Beatles) ...Oh, maybe they called it something else too.

Hmm a few I loved:

Down in the Park done by Marilyn Manson
Cars done by Fear Factory
Tom Sawyer done by Deadsy
Sweet Dreams done by Marily Manson
Easy - Faith no More
Signs - Tesla

I enjoy a lot of cover songs, and this includes video game covers/remixes. I might get called a heretic for saying some of these are even on the same level as their originals, whatever. Covers aren't supposed to match the originals, they're supposed to offer a different interpretation.

Ones already mentioned:
Disturbed - Land of Confusion
Seether - Careless Whisper
Opeth - Would
Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Crminial
Marilyn Manson covers

A Night Like This by The Cure (cover by Professional Murder Music)
Bad Company by BC (cover by Five Finger Death Punch - noisy recording)
Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin (cover by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross & Karen O)
Legs by ZZ Top (cover by Nickelback) - note: myspace music link, all the video links I find are sped up
Losing My Religion by REM (cover by Lacuna Coil)
The Mob Rules by Black Sabbath (cover by Fozzy)

Pretty much anything by Gary Hoey:
Misirlou by Dick Dale & The Del-Tones (cover played with Dick Dale)
Wipeout by The Sufaris (cover)
California Dreamin' by The Mamas & The Papas (cover, no vocals)

Shinedown's cover of Skynards Simple Man is excellent.

Spiderbait's cover of Black Betty by Ramjam which was a cover of about three other bands is also very fun.

my god simple man is such a polarizing song for me. The first half of that song (aka everything before the solo) is absolutely worthless.
