I dont know if this would be a negative experience for the child or not.

I walked in on my parents when i was like 7 but just got yelled at to leave not knowing wtf was going on.

So putting it all into perspective mightve simplified my middle school years significantly.

It certainly isnt anything bad enough to put up charges imho.

Didn't you know? All problems stem becuase of "libuhruls" or because of "red states."

RI is a blue state, though. So I'm very confused.

I do believe ElFenix was just throwing out a typical response you hear on this forum, without regard for whether or not it makes sense :p

And for the most part that's the way it's always been. Not only do a lot of families share a single room, but many share a single bed.

Charging them for that is, IMO nuts....

Indeed. In the vast majority of the world this isn't even a story.

Go figure.

Great point and, IMHO, an example of the serious bastardization of 'morality' in our society. Violence is always more harmful and more 'wrong' than any consensual sex act could ever be but you wouldn't know that by observing primetime television in the US where simulated, and sometimes real, acts of murder and/or shocking violence happen with little to no complaint from the 'public' yet god forbid a naked breast is exposed the FCC is overwhelmed with 'BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?!' letters and calls.

Sick and twisted priorities IMHO.

What a slippery slope! First we can't allow them to see their parents bumping their uglies... next, you'll have your child taken away from you if the bears are going at it at the zoo.

:p :)

:p :)

You better watch out, somebody is going to turn you in if they see your animals having sex in front of your kids.

I kinda agree. What needs to be determined is if there was any abuse. Did they like her in the room when they were doing it and whatnot...

While I don't think I would ever put myself in a similar situation since I am a prude living in a first world country, I am not sure I see that this as something worthy of arrest. What do these people (the teacher, police, etc.) think happens in parts of the world (India, China, etc.) where most families live in one room houses? It doesn't sound like they touched her in a sexual manner or forced her to do anything against her will. It may be freaky or counter culture, but I have a hard time believing it's criminal.

The aforementioned countries are very conservative. The likelihood of any normal Indian or Chinese person having sex in front of another, let alone a 9 year old child, is indeed very slim.

Having sex and being caught by a child is one thing, but deliberately fornicating in front of them is another.

Gotta love the legislation of morality in the home.

However, since this was not husband and wife, but instead woman and boyfriend, I do think this sort of thing should be looked into. Depending on what the custody and responsibility issues are between the natural parents, perhaps the girl's father would be against this sort of thing, and righfully so.

If it were her natural parents going at it, I say the state has no business unless there is demonstrated child abuse.

If it's normal sex I don't see what the problem is... kid needs to learn about it at some point anyway.

I do hope you are kidding. What, you plan on doing that to your kids if you ever have any?
I feel sorry for your future kids. :p

We're pretty much hippies, and we know a lot of hippy parents who are way more granola than us. None of them would do this.

Crazy crazies, I think.
