Counterstrike: Source - The hitbox debate!

This is a reason why many competitive players hate CS:S. I think it might of been fixed though to some degree, I'm not sure.

I don't get it.. whats the big deal?

Without evening watching the video, I have to assume the hitbox (place where the game registers a hit for you) is misplaced or off to a "large" degree. Having a proper hitbox placed is important for FPS games

I knew there was some bullsht. See, Gabe Sucks as a programmer.

WTH is wrong with you. It means that when you shoot the guy, he's not getting hit. If you hit him at all, it's chance. Meaning, not a very good game because of inconsistant physics.

I think the purpose of the hitbox "lag" is to compensate for higher pings.
That isn't even lag because there were scenes where the hitbox was in front of the player's movement, not in back like lag.

EDIT: So messed up too, sv_showhitboxes is considered a "cheat." So it must be true.

hmmm...i've always wondered why I get killed running across the hall in dust and when i'm in the clear somehow i'm nailed in the head...

that and it makes sense why source feels a LOT easier....like i never really have to aim as carefully as i did in CZ or 1.6

There are many commands to fix this. The person who made this video obviously put all his rates and interp on improper settings. CS:S has a lot been hit boxes than this; however, CS:S Still has many problems with it and that is why very few teams play in competetively (I still play normal CS competetively).

This is so old and has been discussed since way before CS S. The original CS had the same issue, which was why it seemed that you would be shot around corners at times.

I certainly wish they'd fix it though, because it's damn stupid.
