Yes, I do have a few cases of noodles cans (on sale for $1/each) and other dried foods so I am good for 30 days. A few months would be a different story.

But the OP's stipulation is wrong. If things went down hill bad enough for you to be stuck inside for a month, you will NOT get water, electricity, internet and all the modern household amenities and of course, trash pickup (in which the OP forgot to include).

Probably not. Could probably last a week but that's about it I'd say.

I'm going to paraphrase this by saying that I have 3 mouths to feed, not just one.

Done it, except I have friends who visited; last time I broke my arm was coped up so to speak (could drive); I did go into my backyard and the mailbox but that is nothing I needed to do I couldn't have waited a month. Now if FedEx would leave packages at my door I could for a year and keep from going insane by logging on here.

you would still have access to all utilities, such as water, gas, telephone, electricity, and internet
Unrealistic! Spam has a very long shelf life.

"What is the shelf life of a Hormel Foods product in an unopened can?

The product is always safe to consume as long as the seal has remained intact, unbroken and securely attached. However, the flavor and freshness of the product gradually begin to decline after three years from the manufacturing date."

Assuming some plague, virus, riot, zombie infestation, alien invasion, etc. happened and you were ordered immediately to shelter in place at your home for 30 days, would you be able to survive?

You cannot leave your house, nor could you have anything delivered to you. But, you would still have access to all utilities, such as water, gas, telephone, electricity, and internet.

Consider me well practiced for the plague/and or zombie invasion already. :colbert:

So, the OP's poll should simply be, "do you have enough food in your house to last a month?" Because, that's what it boils down to. Otherwise, it's simply a vacation with no plans. Probably 6 months worth of food at my house. A large chest freezer completely packed with food, cupboards are nearly full, and a 10 foot long closet that we use for storage - all food, except for about 50 or so rolls of toilet paper, and a few dozen rolls of Bounty.

really it doesn't, because most people can survive a month without food

so even if you have absolutely 0 food in your house, you would probably survive

Sure. I use MREs for backpacking/camping trips, got a couple of cases. Wouldn't be particularly pleasant, but combined with groceries and snacks I have on-hand I could get one solid meal per day. Combine that with sitting on my ass and I'd be fine.

One must nth for food & water? Provided there is some rationing yes we could. Problem is if its winter there is no way I could heat the house with wood for a month.

Assuming all utilities functioning, especially potable water, makes this waaaay to easy.

I live in earthquake country and another cool thing about Soylent powder is u can store an amazing amount of food. I have 2 months worth of Soylent powder. The next step is getting 2 55 gallon water barrels in my garage.

Yep, easily. I have a spare freezer and a decent size pantry. When I buy groceries its 99% sale items and I stock up, so there's enough food for several without rationing. Lack of dairy products would be a hardship, I love baked goods with a big glass of cold milk, that's my food kryptonite.

What good is a freezer if the power goes out?

Try to pay attention long enough to read the very first post:

same here. when hurricane sandy hit the nnj area my daughter was a few days old and it gave me a glimpse into how things can get real serious real quick.
