Sure, they are quick, no denying it, but with that advantage they also have the disadvantage of having no Arms. A wolf could temporarily immobilize 1 arm with its' jaws, but that leaves the second arm free to counter attack.

And by temporarily immobilize you mean bite down and shred enough arteries and bone so that over the course of wrestling it to the down you pass out from blood loss. And then it kills you.

OP is a joe musclehead who will probably die when he attempts to remove a rabid raccoon.

Human beings are some of the most frail animals on the planet overall. Our advantage is in intelligence. Physically we're not a match for much against anything even half our size.

I always figured that anything that weighs 40 pounds that can be grabbed by the scruff, can be taken to the ground and have it's neck stomped.

Did some research. Wolf attacks are VERY rare.

Like 1 every ten years resulting in fatality rare. And I would prefer to be attacked by a coyote.

For a coyote, kick it in the ribs and snap it's neck. Ribs in coyotes are very week. A 12 year old can break them with a kick. An adult should be able to devastate a coyote.

Get a hand under one of their front front paws, wrap around neck, flip them over and pin them by the neck, where they can't look down far enough to bite. Proceed to beat the shit out of the wolf.

A guy on a buffalo can take a wolf down easily. C'mon, he can slap a mountain lion.

When I was a kid, my neighbors were a family of Greek immigrants. Dad was the kind of guy who always had five o'clock shadow and whose hands could crush granite. Story was that when he was in his twenties, back on the Island, he got attacked by a wolf while in the forest. After a struggle, he got his hands inside its mouth and killed it by tearing its jaw open. I had no real reason to believe the story...but no reason to doubt it either. I've never known a man so gentle...yet so intimidating.

Anyway. Could I do it? Depends. Maybe after the wolf was distracted by me shitting my pants.

lol no I would not survive, almost nobody would.

"Single wolves have occasionally been observed to kill large prey such as moose, bison and muskoxen unaided."

Strong enough to take down a moose 1 on 1, twice as fast as a person, more agile than a person, and all it needs is one shot to a vital area and you're done.

Exactly.

All the scaredy cats are just buying into the wolfy propaganda.

Exactly, they are living off their reputation.

Some dogs get really upset by black things. My mate's dog would go mental if you started waving a black bin-liner near him so a wolf might suffer the same way.

i didnt believe you! but i just saw mom yesterday and she has a new dog.. a little one and i guess it HATES black clothing. if youre wearing black, she goes apeshit.

so weird! but i think it just makes her mad, not 'upset and disinterested'

I reckon almost anyone could, if they were willing to take some damage. I think shoving your fist down their throat oughta 'bout do it. Then you'd have to face the rest of the Pack.

/thread

A single wolf probably wins the fight more than half the time. If it's on it's own, where it doesn't belong, it's likely hungry, scared, and possibly rabid.

A pack is going to win every single time, likely without significant injury. (OP implies 'unarmed fight' a gun might help, if the pack is small enough).

This thread has a lot laughs. Most wolves weigh about 100 lbs and can be as large as 120-140lbs. That is lean dense muscle. Wolves are significantly stronger and far more powerful than even the strongest domesticated dogs. Wolves hunt BIG GAME and a single wolf will even challenge a 500 lb bear. Wolves are some of the most gifted hunters and killers in the wild. They also have a large threshold for pain. With no weapons of any kind a wolf will kill any human being on this planet 99.9% of the time. And a wolf will fight to the death.

All about avoiding a bite to critical areas.

I can't honestly say I would definitely beat a wolf in a fight (nor would I like to try, and most wolves wouldn't be up to it, anyway), but if I kept my wits about me I think I would.

A bear or large cat, though, would tear me to shreds regardless. Most unarmed humans can't do enough damage to an angered adult lion, tiger, or bear (oh my!).
Wolves and coyotes are only threats - and very rarely - to adult humans when they are in packs.
