No. DeWalt is a subsidiary of Black and Decker. Ridgid is Home Depot's exclusive line of higher-end (I still wouldn't call them contractor-grade) Ryobi tools, and that's probably what you're thinking of.

however, I'm looking for the same thing... really need a cordless 1/2" impact wrench.. but I think only the higher end brands have these.

Thanks for noticing the context of my question.
BTW, the (one I have) Craftsman drill 19.2 does have the 1/2" chuck. I am not sure about the impact wrench chuck size. BTW, I'm not even sure of the difference the impact wrench offers....

We just bought a Rigid cordless screwdriver for work and I noticed that the Rigid tools have a warranty, lifetime, on the batteries as well. Might want to check that out. Not like Home Depot is gonna disappear in 2 years.

I'm pretty sure some of Craftsman's power tools are made by Black and Decker since many share the same features, batteries and trademarks (on occassion). Also their power tools are not covered under their Lifetime warranty, only [most] hand tools.

They should be at every Home Depot. Just look for the orange tools that match the sign![]()

No. I will say it one more time. Craftsman is made by Emerson. They have been making them for Sears since the beginning.
If you do not belive me I can prove it.

99% of the Craftsman Power Tools are made by Emerson, a big part of their buisness is Doing Private Label stuff for Home Depot, Sears, , and Maybe Black and Decker. I know emerson does make things for other companies but I do not know all of them.
Montgomery Ward TV's were made by Sharp.
Here is a Collage of Buisness class where some students posted a report on Emerson. I think the dates and times are in accurate. But the gist of what they are saying is true. Craftsman and Emerson are the same thing.
Dave & Darlene concurred with Rob Johnstone's conclusion but disagreed with the recommendation. Dave bought one of the last models Emerson made for Craftsman (Emerson then began making Ridgid), and if he had it to do over again, he'd buy the Grizzly Cabinetmaker saw, which at the time was the same price as the Emerson/Craftsman.
Also an interesting article.
Seems I ended up with just the white disks (on an old Emerson Craftsman). Trouble with getting this high falutin', accurate stuff----found out my miter slot narrows towards the

Also here is a term paper a group of buisness students did on Emerson. The dates they quote about the deals between them and Sears are not at all accurate. But the gist of the message is fairly correct.
