Why would I do that? I can handle it myself. I was right there when 9/11 happened. Right there (at 1 Police Plaza, no less). I wasn't scared. I served my country. I wasn't scared. So why the fuck would I be afraid in my own home? I only call cops for legal/insurance purposes. Anything else and I got it.
Herpes?

If that dude the shot those two cops shot these cops instead, I don't think I would feel bad.

So highland145 is a cop? Explains a lot. Puss.

Riiiight, Dari.

You must have avatars turned off because what I do is quite obvious.

I have a "disorder" where shit that scares others excites me. So, yeah, I was not scared in those situations. No need to lie about that.

So I, a stranger, come to your job and pop a few people. You're not going to be wary of the next stranger on your job?
Our police are fine, this is the South. I'm just surprised that there weren't problems after 2 of ours were basically ambushed.

So you think it's smart to fuck with guys with guns, tasers, pepper spray and possibly a target on their backs?

Go for it, John Holmes, go...for...it.

From the part I bolded, it reads like you're police...

I would never speak to the police under any circumstance.
Not if I shot someone. "I was afraid for my life. Lawyer.":colbert:

My apologies for the name calling. Emotions don't translate well in text.

See the above about trusting the police.

what is it with NY cops thugging it up? I'm 100% sure that if a deputy in the county i live in cussed out a citizen like that he would get in trouble. every encounter i have had with the my sheriffs dept the deputy was professional and polite. but im white so my baseline is invalid.

same but I wonder if it's because of the daily crap they deal with?

Bro in law is in the FBI in NY. I'll ask him.

Nope. It's just a mob mentality. No cop would ever talk to someone like that if he was by himself, unless he was really really pissed and had reason to. Add a group of cops and the insults flow.

Maybe. I don't talk trash on my customer's porch. If they're 6 guys, drinking beer, less so.

In my office, well, it's my office and I'll speak the truth.

The 2 Boston cops earlier today should have shot the attackers but didn't. Shame.

im pretty sure they would not teach that type of citizen first contact at the NYPD academy so it must be the culture of the precinct they get assigned to.

The dancer was clearly a bit obnoxious (notice how most of the pedestrians kind of jerk around suddenly as if they feel someone is about to run into them), but it was a cop behind the dancer that first approached him, not the cop being danced behind. Therefore...

If that dude the shot those two cops shot these cops instead, I don't think I would feel bad.

This, except remove the mild element of doubt.

If they thought that guy was a threat (he was in their space acting stupid) they could have have moved to gain distance while assessing the threat. Instead, he was almost immediately assaulted. The footage is clear, if a private citizen had done what those cops had done, it would be an open and shut case. But those who are ostensibly public servants get to commit assaults and worse on a daily basis with total impunity. Something is rotten in the USA.

Actually in my experience cops in smaller towns with less crime seem to be the biggest jerks while in places like NYC they have plenty of real/violent crime to deal with and as a result don't sweat the small stuff.

Being a cop anywhere is a tough and largely thankless job though.

So is being a garbage collector. In fact, being a garbage collector is far more dangerous, statistically. But they are not assaulting citizens for not leaving their bins out by the road.

Though they're not exactly supposed to use those things on innocent people.
A person can easily punch another in the face, but I don't think that prank-dancing behind someone would warrant that.
Being an idiot also doesn't warrant the use of those tools.

If they're that dangerous and undisciplined, they probably shouldn't have so much armament in the first place. Maybe just a training whiffle bat should be given until they can demonstrate that they won't hurt someone without good cause.

...and possibly a target on their backs?
I've got a chance of dying of a heart attack, or maybe a stroke, or a break-in, or a drunk driver from any of the nearby taverns crashing through my wall, or any number of things. But I could still expect problems if someone rang the bell and started dancing at me, and I subsequently decided that the best course of action would be to shove the person to the ground and say that I'll call the police.
Maybe something more like, "Really now? This is all you have to do? Go away."
