>>Anyways, I think you deserved the warning. Being on a bicycle doesn't mean you can disobey the rules of road. It's very dangerous when bicyclist rides the wrong way, because turning cars assumes(rightfully) nobody will come from the wrong way behind the wheels. They'll look for slow moving pedestrians, but not bicycles, motorcycles, skateboards, etc going 15-20mph going the wrong direction<<
I know too many people that were hit and killed from behind riding their bikes going the same flow as cars. I will never ride the same flow as cars, you have a whole lot better chance of survival on a bike if you can see what is coming, those people didn't even know what hit them. Who is the idiot that mandated that a 2,000 lb car and a bike share the same lane at the same time anyway?
>>This thread is confusing... I havn't biked since I was a kid but I learned how to bike on a sidewalk. We also solely rode our bikes on sidewalks, did not need to register, and didn't follow the speedlimit. We didn't stop at stop signs or anything like that. I thought those were all things you follow if you were using your bike as a car (driving in a lane, etc)?
Is there a point in your life when your bike turns into a car and you need a license plate, have to register, need a front light, must be wearing a helmet, can't ride on sidewalks, must stop for stop signs no matter where you are, can't bike in a parking lot, and can't bike too fast? If so, I'm glad I stopped while I was ahead. <<
I grew up in New York, way too many cars in the road all the time and no room for bikes, we had to stay on the sidewalks if we wanted to live and ride a bike.
Exactly, part of the whole Police state garbage going on all over here. Control to the point of killing life itself. If you people are getting and paying tickets for that stuff, I'd fight them, it's either fight or sounds like accept the fact that bikes are for all practicalities an outlawed way of getting around.
