I didn't even know that GH5 was coming out this week until I looked at the Best Buy paper ad this morning. Shows how much I care about those games these days.

The good thing is, all the previous guitar hero titles are on clearance because of it.

Gamestop is running a special where GH5 preorders get GH:Van Halen for free.

I think it's an Activision promotion. I know Amazon preorders are also eligible as are preorders from probably just about anywhere. I believe there will be a mail-in form in the box.

Muramasa is pretty sick. I played the JPN version.

Same company that made Odin's Sphere but I think this one is better.

And as a result, I think I may show my support... by finally buying Rock Band 2. :D Maybe I'll just wait until the Beatles version.

I've lost track of how many GH games have come out this year...three...four?

GH: Metallica
GH: Smash Hits
GH 5
GH: Van Halen

:confused::roll:

Meanwhile, I play the same Rock Band 2 disc I've had forever, imported almost all of my songs from the RB1 disc I've had forever, using the same DLC that I bought forever ago when I was playing RB1.

I've seen the RB2 Bundle for sale at places like Wal Mart for $90. That's a pretty good deal, considering it includes the game, guitar, drums and mic.

I need a new guitar and drum set, but I don't want to buy the bundle and get the game...again! :(

the drums were (are?) like 80 bucks on their own. $90's a great deal...if someone wants a new drumset, i'll give you like thirty bucks for the guitar. =O

Anybody know if the Beatles version is compatible with the DLC from other RBs, and also the stuff from RB1? If so, maybe they'll do the same thing w/ the RB2 songs.

You could sell the game here or on ebay/half.com for $35-40, so you get the drums and guitar you need for $50... plus a spare mic just in case.

I'm pretty sure that I read that Rock Band Beatles would not play RB1/RB2 DLC. Consider the Beatles game as a completely stand alone product with no ties except for the Rock Band name. But I could be wrong.

Yeah, The Beatles Rock Band will be completely shut off from the other games. You won't be able to import or export anything other than Beatles songs/albums DLC (which won't be available for the other games).

It's unfortunate but then again I'm amazed this game is even happening given all of the parties involved and likely gigantic amount of red tape.

And that is the reason why The Beatles Rock Band is completely separate. None of the rights-holders would allow any cross-over.

I'm thinking about picking up GH5. Gamestop also gives you 2 free song downloads, although I don't know what songs they are.

EDIT:

Actually, I think Amazon might have a better deal...

$5 worth of MP3 downloads
Van Halen game
$10 Video Game credit

Plus I'm a prime member so overnight shipping is only $4 rather than $10

Wow thanks for the heads up. I may be buying one of these RB2 bundles soon if I can find it for $90ish.

Keep in mind this was at my local Wal Mart, and it was a few weeks ago, so it might be a special that has expired. Your mileage may vary.

You can buy the Rock Band 1 bundle (wired instruments) + Rock Band 2 disc for $79 here. The deal used to include the AC/DC disc for a bundled total of $99 but looks like that's over.

Back when Gamestop had their big clearance sale I purchased the Rock Band 2 bundle online for < $80 new.

Keep in mind that the RB2 instruments are much nicer - if I had to choose between an $80 RB1 bundle plus extra software and a $100 RB2 bundle, I'd take the RB2 bundle and get the RB1/ACDC software later (relatively cheap since it is old).

While I'm still firmly in the Rock Band camp as far as music games go, I was looking at a GH5 video and it seems they have fixed some of the problems with the craptastic interface that was in GHWT (at least there is textual feedback for vocals now). With import capability for GHWT and GHSH, I may actually consider picking up GH5 at some point. Does anyone know if GHVH will be importable?

I absolutely cannot believe how out of touch I've gotten. I have bought every GH and RB game up until GH4... and I guess I'm just tired of them or something. I was planning on buying RB:Beatles and then renting games from then on out, but I may just rent that one too. But the fact that GH5 could be coming out already without me even realizing it boggles my mind... lol. I used to sit and watch for info months before these games came out. Was there just no publicity or hype for GH5 like there was for previous versions? I thought that Van Halen would be the next GH and that GH5 was still quite a ways off....

I doubt it, since none of the other band-focused GH games are.
