Well I sprung for GH5 because I needed a new fake guitar. I have to say, after hating GH3 and not liking GHWT, GH5 seems to be a huge improvement. All the improvements that were in GH: Metallica are in here and more.

That's good to hear since I'm mostly in the same camp as you with respect to GH3/GHWT. I will still wait to see if they sort out the lackluster import feature though.

what do you mean?

I'm just referring to the fact that less than half of GHWT and GHSH are importable for use in GH5.

Oh wow, I thought it was all but a couple songs from GHWT. I transferred them but haven't checked to see what is missing.

have you ever even played rock band?

Own both of them.

it's such a vastly superior experience

Sounds like you haven't played GH5.

i find it hard to to believe anyone who has played both would support GH so rabidly

What have I said negative about RockBand outside of the obvious fact they are clearly trailing in gameplay modes at the moment? What else negative have I said?

i guess if you really place that much emphasis on throwaway music creator modes and being able to play four guitars at once, GH is 'better.'

Party mode is a major improvement for the genre. I guess if you live by yourself, have no friends or noone to play with then maybe it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but the party mode in GH5 is a profound and enormous improvement for the genre for those that play with others.

but i fail to see how my DLC is now garbage because of beatles rock band.

Who said your DLC was garbage? When did anyone even imply any such thing?

my solution is to just not buy beatles rock band

So you rate the whole 'music as a platform' as a much more important feature then I do for certain. Missing out on a title because you can't import songs seems pretty foolish to me. $2 per track for DLC, every game in the genre that I can think of is less expensive then that. Yes, swapping discs is a pain in the ass, but missing out on a great game because of it? No thanks.

i love how you call people fanboys when 100% of your posts are blind support for something and dogged opposition of its competitors, even if what you're supporting isn't even out yet..

WTF are you talking about? Picked up GH5 on Tuesday, already played through career mode and working on band challenges atm. And what opposition have I shown towards RB? I have been laughing at the entire notion that 'music as a platform' trumps a good game and a good value. For you it seems it doesn't, gameplay is secondary to your ability to not having to swap discs.

I have been laughing at the notion that DLC is a good 'value'. $2 per song is considerably more expensive then the games as a whole, but I fairly clearly pointed out that that was the same for GH or RB.

the DLC is horribly priced, that's for sure. but i'd rather pay $2 a song for things that are good than $60 for a disc that i feel is 50-75% crap.

i meant the 'things that aren't out yet' in more a general sense (*cough*GT5(anddon'tsayprologue'causeit'scrap)*hackcoughphlegm*), though i didn't know you already had GH5, either, i didn't recall reading that.

and thanks for the cliched 'you just don't like it because you don't have any friends' comment, havn't seen that one in a couple minutes. actually, my friends just aren't retarded and don't see the fun in a bunch of guitars playing at once. how could that possibly work well? either four people playing is going to sound like one (what's the point of there being four of you? why don't three of them just hit the buttons without the guitar plugged in?) or it's going to sound like a big clusterfuck. i guess i'm curious as to which one it is, but either is dumb. drop-in play, okay, that's a nice option, but the the rest makes no sense to me, sir.

Sounds like you haven't played GH5.

don't plan on it. maybe when they can come up with something better than harmonix's GH2 interface (which wasn't great at the time), i have no desire to play guitar hero. i just don't see any effort being put into how smoothly those games actually play- the charts and in-game UI in general are bad enough, and the menus in GHWT made me want to kill puppies.
