<< anyone confirmed who makes the 16x CDRW? >>

The drive is made by our well known and trusted Best Buy generic computer peripherals manufacturer.... Digital Research Technologies! 16/10/40 with "Buffer Under Run technology onboard!" aka BURNPROOF... woo hoo! What a deal!

No problem in the Sac BB near Arden Mall. Walked in at 11:30AM. Went to the CS desk. I was the only one in line. She gave me a refund then rang it up again. Gave me all 4 MIRS (2 for the CDRs, 1 HD, 1Vidcard). In and out in less than 10 minutes. It would have been 5, but I had a HD and Vidcard hidden away in the TV section so I had to wait in line to buy those. Went to the car, a homeless person approached me so I gave him a couple of bucks. All in all a good 10 minutes. :)

Ok guys I just got back from best buy. I did the price adjustment for the Geforce3 Ti200. I didn't have a problem at all. I got a Price Match receipt with TODAY's date on along with a rebate form. If anyone wants to check theirs.. here is a scan of them both.

When I went to the bestbuy this morning, the lady at the customer service refused to adjust the price. She said that I can return the item, take it to the regular counter and get it for the price advertised. I asked for the manager. He also said the same thing. So I had to stand in line for 1 hour 30 min to get the HD for the advertised price.:(

Since there are a lot of you with the 16x drive in this thread, I will ask this here:

Is this drive worth anything (or at least $30)?
Does it work with CloneCD?
Does it have actual "Burnproof" technology?
Can it do SD2?

Thanks.

OK, Best Buy at Warwick, RI

Had no problems price matching for previously bought GF3 and the hard drive. The ppl were very nice and polite. Thumbs up for this store.

It really seems to be up to the store.

One of my local BBs (in Rockville, MD) didn't want to adjust it. Tried with two different clerks and neither would do it. Gave me the "It is advertised for 15 items only and previous purchases don't apply" excuse.

Another local BB had no problems. Had 3 video cards and 3 drives adjusted by three different people. None of them gave me any grief.

Since I got shot twice in one store and succeeded 3 times in another, it seems like decision is up to the store manager. One of them probably told his staff to deny requests, another one didn't.

Hey-

I got the pricematch here in minneapolis @ the richfield store. The guy tried to tell me it was only a 7-12 deal- what a fool. I told him to ring it up anyway and it gave me the 149.99 price and the 50.00 rebate. I also had the guy ring it up as an exchange. It doesn't say PRICEMATCH anywhere so maybe they'll go with the EXCHANGE deal instead right? I really don't see how Best Buy could say they weren't honoring the Pricematch recipts for the mailin rebates- what about the LEGIT people that actually did some holiday shopping early? It seems pretty bogus to me.

Went to BB in Southfield MI. Rebecca was the greatest! Gave her ALL of my receipts AT ONCE. Refunded to sale prices for 3 GF3's, 4 HD's 1 DVD, & 2 CDRW's. No questions asked. Just told the manager to stand by to OK each one, which she also did with no questions asked. Unfortunately, no virtual MIR for me, so I must mail them all in to the various family memnber's addresses to get rebates.

I just wish I had pre-bought at Staples, as they were out of everything within 5 minutes of opening!

Did the return and buy at
Citrus Heights, CA Store

I went to BB and kindly asked CSR to credit my card and give me a refund ...... after the credit she charged my card for the new purchase (all this at customer service counter)

Got my dated receipt for the rebate with NO hassles ... no waiting either. ( lull in the day at 3:00PM )

I went to the Melbourne, Florida store #512. The first CSR refused to pricematch or even allow me to return/rebuy the Geforce Ti200 video card claiming that it was a special sale. She said I could return it but I would have to get the replacement card from the regular stock and buy it at the front registers-of course there were no cards on the shelves (8:30A.M.). After I argued for a few minutes I told her I would be back with the card for a full refund. After I returned I was helped by another CSR who asked if I would like to do a pricematch and then gladly did the pricematch for me with no hassles. This is the first time I ever had any problems at a Best Buy, I quess I just got the wrong CSR the first time around. I hope there will be no problems with the pricematched receipt for the $50.00 rebate:frown:

i think the key to getting an *easy* pricematch is to just hand them the receipt and ask for a pricematch. don't show them the ad or the product or say anything else. their computer knows the new price and doesn't care what the ad states.

after the pricematch is finished ask for a rebate form and rebate receipt.

I had a nightmare of a time at my local BB, the store at Riverdale and Winchester in Memphis.

I was told "no pricematch on sale items" by the CS girl, asked for a manager, and waited for 10 minutes, no manager. Then a lady came up and wanted to PM a 50" tv that was $300 off what she paid for it and she was told the same thing. I pointed out a guy with a tie and she went and asked him if was a manager and his smart a$$ reply was "I try to be, sometimes". This guy was so full of his "store manager self" that he had A$$hole written on his forehead. He pratically jumping with glee as he looked down on us and said how he was the manager and it was his decision not PM.

I pointed at the policy on the wall, the huge policy sign, and said that it didnt state any exclusions for PM'ing for special sales or whatever. He said it didnt matter, and that it also didnt say "that they would PM any on sale merchandise" therefore he didnt have to PM it. I said that he had to follow the posted policy or he was breaking the law, he said "so?" and then again repeated that policy didnt say he had to PM anything.

I point blank asked him if this was a corporate, store or his own personal policy, he said that he is the store manager and it is his policy. I asked him if the other store in town would PM, and said probably not. Next he said "if that is it, you can go now".

His attitude went way beyond just "store policy" he was really enjoying screwing us. He never once said anything like "sorry" or "regret" or "unfortunate". He was actually smirking at us! His whole attitude was saying, "it's just TooF'ngBad, now GetTheF*ck out of my store!" The lady said it must be a race thing, and I agreed with her, he heard that and then he got his tail twisted up. Either he is just the biggest A$$ in the business, and I have seen a lot of them, or was being a racist pig, sometimes it's hard to tell.

Me and the lady went to the other store and they didnt even blink, the CS girl there was polite and fast and I got the PM and so did the lady with TV.

That store will never see me again, the other BB saved BB two customers today. I wonder how many lifelong customers that one manager and his policy lost for BB today.

The sale on the card woth Rebate is good for the 23rd and 24th. Anyone in doubt (like me) about the pricematch receipt for the rebate, just go back tomorrow and ask them to refund and rebuy. I am going to :D

I came back from BB and basically exchanged (as it was put) the higher priced drive for the lower priced drive. You could say it's a return and repurchase. I asked the rep about the price adjustment and informed her that there was a rebate involved now. She thought that the rebate would probably not work if a price adjustment was done, so she suggested the exchange. Whatever works...

Is there ANYONE who actually did NOT get a price match, let it be first, second or third try?

Doh! I didn't realize something. We got three things from Best Buy as far as receipts. We got the actual Sales Receipt, we got the Rebate Form and we got a Rebate Receipt. Now.. I totally didn't look at the Rebate Receipt. I was just looking at the Rebate Form and the Sales Receipt.

It seems logical to me that you would send in the UPC with the Rebate Form and the Rebate Receipt and leave out the actual Sales Receipt. Correct?

What exactly do we send in? The Rebate Receipt with the Rebate Form or the Sales Receipt with the Rebate Form? I'd love to send in just the Rebate Receipt with the Rebate Form because I got two hdd's and used the same credit card for both (separate receipts). I'm going to use my dad's address for the second rebate, especially considering that the drive is for him anyway. I just don't want to run into a snag by using the same credit card for both purchases and submitting the rebate receipt should solve the problem because the name on my credit card does not show on the Rebate Receipt. Just the Sales Receipt.

LMK

TIA
