Did the presentation actually use the designation Coffeelake or Coffeelake-R anywhere?

Seems like the mainstream CPUs have identical hardware fixes to Whiskey Lake, identical process, and identical platform feature set.

Would be interesting to know the reasoning behind the naming designations.

Cinebench publicly vilified, lol, it has served its purpose all these years and is no more relevant now that the competition is at the same level...
It was getting out of hand...but I saw that as an AMD crack rather than a CB crack.

488USD for 9900k if you buy 1000units.So probably 550USD for single cpu and 410-420usd for single 9700k.
Useless launch.
Ryzen at 7nm is very close at this point.

I see this reasoning brought up but I don't understand it.

Zen, 6 months CFL, 6 months Zen+, 6 months CFL-R, 6 months? Zen 2, 6 months? Intel whatever.

So why is the viewpoint that Zen 2 is very close? Seems like whatever the next side releases is very close based on that logic.

Zen will be at 7nm + new architecture.Thats huge.
intel is stuck with skylake architecture and 14nm more than 3 years by now.
6700k,7700k,8700k,9900k all are same cpus(acrhitecture).Intel only add more cores and like 10% better oc.

Such innovation! It's as if Intel completely forgot what they'd been doing up to Sandy. I wonder what will they reinvent next.

It's the Apple syndrome in full effect.

This makes me so damn mad. How ridiculous can they get? This is quite ridiculous. I'm glad they are using solder again, but it took AMD kicking them in the crotch before they decided to FINALLY go ahead and give us a real chip. All those people delidding 7700k's and 8700k's, voiding their warranty and having to use an inferior liquid metal that might degrade over time etc. Makes me sick. And here all of a sudden they give it to us just like that? No problem? No concerns about cracking dies or anything? And then they try to educate us on what solder TIM is and pretend it's a new feature along with the world's first 8/16 consumer CPU? I hope Intel gets vaporized by an asteroid.

Intel's whateverlake 6 months from then could also be a new process and uarch?

Personally I really care about the end results and not necessarily how they get there from a consumer purchasing stand point. So in that sense Zen offered more to the market versus was there, same with CFL, same with Zen+.

As for CFL-R as it currently stands well it's hard sell. 9700k is a 25% premium over what I consider 8700k street prices and 30% over 2700x makes that hard sell. 9900k I guess is an alright halo if you're okay with the price.

Oh no! Stuck with that nice, fast, well refined, node and architecture...

$529 pre-order at Amazon.

So, probably go lower than that with a little time.
