Skylake-X die is significantly larger as well.
Around 77 - 265% larger (LCC, HCC).

If we use Intel specs for Pmax (PL2), i.e. 118.75W for 95W TDP SKUs and 206.25W for 165W TDP SKUs, the intensity on a 182mm² 95W TDP SKU is > 53% higher than on 484mm² 165W TDP SKU.
However, when compared with the 10 core 322mm² 140W TDP SKU the intensity of the 182mm² 95W TDP SKU is only 20% higher.

Event is pretty meh so far.

Got a launch date of Dec. for the 28 core Xeon CPU and Nov. for new X-series CPUs, so that was good to get that info. Also Oct 19 for 9900K.

It's like they never heard of AMD...

Yet they said that it was tested in 19 games against other CPUs from both Intel and AMD, i guess that they were in a hurry to prepeare this event, the pic below is more accurate :

$16 price increase for 8700k -> 9700k.

$5 price increase for 8600k -> 9600k.

36% price increase for 8700k-> 9900k (33% more cores).

Also a 9% increase in stock clocks over the 8700K, so in terms of actual 'bang for buck' you're getting more with the 9900K, especially considering that it's soldered as well.

HEDT has clock speed bumps, solder, and some hardware spectre/meltdown fixes.

Cache actually appears the same as before.

Such innovation! It's as if Intel completely forgot what they'd been doing up to Sandy. I wonder what will they reinvent next.

It's the Apple syndrome in full effect.

Skylake-X Refesh does not have the partial hardware fixes that Coffee Lake Refresh does.

It's essentially a rebrand, they didn't even up the turbo clocks/tdp much.
