don't be a tard. People make judgements on how each other look. If you say you don't, you're lying. It's natural instict to be attracted to a member of the opposite sex who is healthy and virile, it happens in nature all the time: think peacocks with the most attractive tail feathers, the beefiest silverback gorllia male, the attractive colours of the male parrotfish... hell pretty much *EVERY* animal strives to find the healthiest (ie with the best genes) mate. Humans are no different, and being attracted to a young, healthy (not underweight: healthy) looking female over a tubby greasebucket or scrawny malnourished garden rake is to be expected.

Get off your fvcking high-horse: fit people are more attractive. The only issue is finding one with a decent personality. It's not shallow, it's the way of the world. Only ugly and fat people say looks aren't important. Sorry if this is painful, but it's the truth. Stop denying it.

I hate the word shallow when used in that way. Like it's some character flaw I have because I'm not attracted to heavy women.

Well, that is what the word means. You might take a look at why it upsets you that you are considered to be shallow.

I agree....
I hate the fact that heavier people look at me in a rude way because of how i look. I have had heavy girls(i didnt even know) look at me and whisper because of what i was wearing or something.
I am not going to stop dressing a certain way just because a fat chick doesnt like me bceause of how i look.
I am proud of how i look and i am not shallow at all. 75% of the time, heavy girls are heavy for a reason... and thin girls are thin for a reason.

There is nothing wrong with like a thin girl rather than a thicker girl. OTher folks would prefer a girl that is a bit larger.

And to be quite honest, i agree with GeekBabe with what she said in the other thread that was getting her flammed.

Despite your very eloquent description of rain forest animals, there is no analogy in nature to only liking "thin girls". Justify it as you will but your preferences do not arise out of any sort of natural order but rather a cultural phenomenon.

Plenty of our preferences arise out of culture but most do not impart harm (both psychological and physical) on an entire gender.

edit: I anticipate confusion over the definition of "thin girls". There is a big difference between being overweight from a health perspective and being overweight from a societal perspective.

Here we go with the guilt. Look, I'm not going to apologize for not being attracted to overweight women. It's not something I need to "look at" either. I don't have a problem with it because I don't consider it a character flaw. It's just a fact. Deal with it.

What does the word actually mean?

# S: (adj) shallow (lacking depth of intellect or knowledge; concerned only with what is obvious) "shallow people"; "his arguments seemed shallow and tedious"

"only" is the operative word.

I think you should be able to expect someone in your general attractiveness range. If you're a 7/10, don't expect a 9/10 unless you've got major bucks or have the best personality in your town.

It also depends on what you mean by "thin." Mischa Barton thin, or Alba thin?

HOLLA!

I think your percentage is off... I'd say more 90-95%.

Its amazing the glares and whispers my girlfriend gets from packs of girls because she wears a sundress, tanktop or fitted jeans that look hot on her. Its also amazing to see how many of their boyfriends are enjoying it. Just makes me wonder.

And I'm TOTALLY not bashing women who are pregnant... I think pregnant women that have put on that little bit of extra weight when they're carrying their child are BEAUTIFUL! And with a little work, their bodies can recover after having the baby VERY well!

I've met girls who were say 5'5 140lbs and they didn't look "globby" but just slim yet thick and athletic.

And I've seen other girls of the same height and weight and the 140lbs would just sag off to the side like that Ghostbusters Slime we had as kids.
Man, the chick that looked like slimer was LYING about her weight! The other chicks were telling the truth about theirs.

Mischa Barton is a bit too thin right now I think from what pictures I've seen, but she's definitely a pretty girl. And Alba is hot. She's got the perfect shaped body for her frame.

Nothing wrong with thin/athletic girls. The girl I'm with right now is pretty thin. 5'2"ish, asian... I'd be suprised if she was 100lbs. But I've dated curvy latinas too. For me it's more about a girl's face. Body type doesn't really matter unless she's unhealthily thin or overweight. I don't want to see bones OR chubby rolls poppin out over her jeans. :p

I like thinner girls. I'm not attracted to larger girls. Mainly because I couldn't picture myself with a large girl. I'm pretty skinny.

What would you do if you met the girl of dreams in all aspects except that she was 15 pounds over weight.

Being 15 lbs overweight would make her unattractive to me in several areas. She wouldn't be the girl of my dreams. Unless it was a temporary thing where she had a reason, like an injury that prevented her from being as active as she was normally.

I'm not intimidated by a girl who looks good! I'm not ashamed to say that I wouldn't date a girl that was 15 lbs overweight, especially if she's my age, in her 20's. To me, if she's not fit now she's not going to look any better if the relationship succeeds and we get married and have kids.

I don't think it's shallow. I think its a personal preference and I'm sick of being made to feel like I can't say that. I take care of myself and I can't find a woman attractive if she doesn't do the same.

Why settle?

I'm not too impressed. So you like the same standard of hotness pushed on us by nearly every media outlet. wow! Would you like a medal, trophy or plaque to display your uniqueness? You are the target demographic, market research has probably already shown that the majority of people like that body type.

That being said having standards on who you will or won't date isn't shallow. When dating they are putting their best face forward (or should be) and if you aren't interested at that point when the bad stuff starts to come out you will be even more unhappy. Shallow, to me anyways, would be leaving your wife of 10+ years because she's put on 15lbs. Not dating a girl that you aren't attracted to is common sense.

So after you marry her and twenty years later when she requires a double mastectomy due to breast cancer, how will she look to you then?
