Pretty much an ass-kissing.

And Condi's comments?

"the time for diplomacy is now"

"The mission of the US is to spread freedom and democracy throughout the world."

WTF????

Man, who does Condosleeza's hair???

It looks like Madeline Kahn's hair in Young Frankenstein after she marries the super-humanly well hung monster.

It just keeps getting higher and higher and higher. Like it's being pushed out by the roots.

I have two copies on DVD and I still watch it every time it comes on TV.

Among my top ten all time favorites.

From IMDB:

Trivia: When they started to film the "Puttin' on the Ritz" scene, no one was sure what the Creature should say. The first time out of the gate, however, Boyle came up with a strangled version of "Puiinin da reeez!"

Another great ab-lib was Gene Hackman's "But I was going to make espresso" after the monster crashes through the door of his cottage to escape the blind man's "kindness".

After the 9/11 Hearings, I have absolutely no respect for her at all. Somehow I don't think those questioning her will take her to task over her lack of integrity or accountability.

I don't trust her, or any one else left in this self serving Bush Adminsitration.

There is no credability of accountability in any of them.

They have proven without a doubt that their word is not to be trusted
and they will not hesitate to bring forth more and more falsehoods
in an attempt to perpetuate their Chrisis Management Policies.

How can 50.9 % be so misguided as to give them a free pass on the lack of integrity.

Makes me wish that Nixon was back, in comparison he's right - he was not a crook,
but he must have known what was coming and that it would bolster his image.

Barbara Boxer just smacked her around good. Boxer's right, Rice boldfaced lied to the American people and now tries to rewrite history.

I think she forgot the rest of that quote, "...with the Marines."

Didn't you expect this to happen? A responsible hearing would bring up her total lack of qualification to be Secretary of State in a time when our main concern is the Middle East. Or maybe her obvious lack of integrity in the 9/11 hearings. A responsible hearing would, of course, be a little too much to ask for I think.

Of course I'm hoping the Dems are saving the big guns for some other Bush nominations...who knows.

Nice.

I'm not a big fan of Boxer, but someone had to do it.

In a sharp exchange, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer suggested Rice's loyalty to President Bush had "overwhelmed your respect for the truth." Rice replied, "I have never, ever, lost respect for the truth in the service of anything."

This dumb wench needs to stick to iceskating. She...IS...aware those hearings were televised, right?

And she was actually under oath this time. Hmm...guess she really does respect the truth.

No wait....

She has nothing to personally interject into a dynamic government as an interactive person.
Colon Powell did, as did Kissinger. Usually a Head of State in such a position of authority
has energy and intelect to add to the mix and a knowledge of history to draw from.

Not that she's not an extremely smart woman, just how she channels her knowledge.
She makes no answer of her own creation, all she does is recite a Bush Matra and repeated
diolouges that are Bush Boiler Plate answers, the 'Corporate Thought'.
She's a damn rubber stamp, she does exactly as told.
How High & what color ?

Believe the Delaware senator (oh am I love this guy but Im forgetting his name) was kind of grilling her. He asked some very good tough questions. I only saw it for about 10 minutes though.

Condie is going to do to the State department what Rumsfeld did to the Pentagon. Purge any independent thinking professionals and experts and replace them with yes men.
And how is she going to be top US diplomat with no credibility? Can you imagine Rice negotiating a WMD treaty or trying to get ally support for military action? It's laughable.

My feelings on Condi are thus: I think she's a really, really smart individual. But, I think that she was found to be lacking in her role of Nat'l Security Advisor. Her background as an expert on the former Soviet Union was not appropriate for the threats faced by our nation as she was brought into the administration. She managed to ignore overwhelming threats (i.e. "al Qaeda determined to attack inside U.S." memos sitting on her desk) during her tenture and presided over our nation's worst intelligence and security failure in 50 years.

Furthermore, as Secretary of State, she is to act as our nation's top diplomat and after reading about her tenure as provost at Stanford, I have serious doubts that she has the personality or diplomatic talent to handle the role successfully. For example, I cite this LA Times article that delves into her performance in that post at Stanford University:

But critics say Rice was harsh, even ruthless, during her administration, the one time in her gilded career she has overseen a large institution. Improbably, the youngest provost in Stanford history and the first black and woman to hold the post helped prompt a Labor Department probe into the treatment of women and minorities.

Reading through her behavior at Stanford, one gets the distinct impression that this is a woman who just bulls her way through any potential collaberative efforts and just implements things "her way." Certainly not the kind of personality that a top diplomat would possess.

In short, I just don't think she's right for the job. I do think, that in the Bush administration loyalty is prized above all else and so it's irrelevant whether she's right for the job because she's fiercely loyal to the administration. A bad decision, no matter how you look at it.
