Do you think in the year 3,000 we'll have the heads of every celebrity and B-movie star from the late 90s saved in jars a la Futurama? No? Well that's because it's a ridiculous premise. But it allows us to connect to the jokes more than using some fictitious people who may actually be celebrities 1,000 years from now. The comedy doesn't stem from accurate predictions of future events, the comedy stems from "what if we took something that we all know and thought about how it might look if we took it to the future." It's not supposed to be accurate. Hell, if it was, there'd be no comedy to it.
