Did you apply thermal compound when you installed the CPU HSF?

The cpu fan came with thermal paste already attached via three strips on the bottom of it.

I just checked on EVEREST, and the computer I'm on does use DDR2 SD RAM, so I suppose I could test it on my mobo. I'll also try to reseat my CPU and stuff, although it only went in one way, so I doubt that's the problem.
