There's your problem! There is no page six. Advertisement is just one sheet front and back.

CompUSA PDF Ad

My original question stands: where's the 175GB hard drive?

How is the APC 350VA battery backup ? How long will it allow running a machine with Athlon XP 2200+ with 6 hard drives ;) ?

Also, can it shutdown the machine automatically in case of power failure ?

That's the current ad. The 6-hour sale is only one two-sided sheet.

The APC 350U does have a USB connection that you can use with either their own "PowerChute" program or simply with the Windows XP UPS service, which will hibernate your computer in the case of a power outage.
However with an Athlon 2200+ with 6 hardrive expect it to last... 10s or so, and that's without having your monitor plugged in the battery.
I still got one for my XP1900+ with 2 harddrives (and GF4 4800) because it's great protection for the 1-3 second outages that are somewhat common in my area. I get less than 30s of battery time in the case of an outage and it's not enough for XP go in a full hibernate.

I would expect any ATA 133 controller (i.e. new-ish mobo) to support over 137G, if not check your mfr web site for BIOS update.
The drive does come with an ATA adapter (I don't know if the adapter is ATA 133, but the dirve is definitely ATA 100).
Anyone can confirm that it is a promise controller? I want to put this drive in a Linux box and I know for a fact that support for the Promise chipset is built in the kernel, as oppsed to other brands of ATA adapters.

They are available on CompUSA website right now for $30 SHIPPED. I was almost ready to buy it when I saw <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.compusa.com/terms.asp#refurb" target=blank>CompUSA's refurbished policy.</A> I am not taking my chances on something that is only guaranteed to power up. However, it supposedly comes with both black and color print cartridges. They alone are probably worth more than $30.

I might have given it a shot if I had not invested $40 into a new print cartridge for my Lexmark a week ago.

Where is this listed online at $30 SHIPPED? I'm seeing $149.99 as the price???

TIA

I got ganked on a $30 rebate* by these asses a year ago, so praying that $140 worth of rebates don't go wrong is a huge risk.

* I realized that I was up against a deadline, so I put together the rebate, but didn't have time to make a scan or copy of the stuff I sent, so when they claimed that I didn't include the UPC, I had no backup. Fuqkers!:|

I forget, is CrapUSSR's return/price policy good for the ol' buy and reprice/return+rebuy trick?

keep documentation of everything. if you don't get your 'bate back, go into the store and calmly tell them what went wrong, with all of your documentation. they SHOULD do something for you then.

It worked on Black Friday. They do a return followed by a rebuy, didn't even have to have the actual items with me.

I wouldn't open any box until you have done it though, that way you always have the option to return the item if they refuse to do the price adjust.

You have to do your part too, you can't complain if you didn't even fill the form right. That's what they're counting on, people not filling in the form right, forgetting the UPC, not sending it on time....

You you follow the instructions and make copies of everything then you should have no problems, except that most compUSA rebates arrive much later then advertized. If you have good records, you can go complain to a CUSA strore manager, as pkananen suggests. If they see that you have good records and you stay polite, they usually will do something about it, although this can't be abused either.

Well, I did my part with a QPS DVD-R Rebate in the march of last year.... It took me nearly 8 months to receive the rebate but not untill numerous visits to the store, calls to compusa headquarters, letters to BBB and attorney generals of the both california and texas... DO NOT TRUST COMPUSA REBATES!!!

I kind of like the keychain PDA, it seems pretty small and can store a bunch stuff.

If anything, it has a calculator to help me figure out if I should buy the 12 pack double roll of toilet paper, or the 24 pack single roll. HA!

Why is it you quoted my whole post, including the part where I mentioned THAT I HADN'T MADE A COPY OF MY REBATE STUFF LIKE I USUALLY DO and you and papaschtroumpf BOTH said dumb things like, "Take copies to the store." or "You didn't fill out the form right."?!?!?!?!?!? Listen punks, when I saw their reason, I trudged back to my store room to double-check that I hadn't forgotten to include the UPC and the rectangular hole in the box showed that it was them who'd screwed up.

I KNOW I F***ED MYSELF ON THIS DEAL, but that doesn't change the fact that they (or their fulfilment house) screwed up and cost me $30. Yeah, I lack the proof I need, but I SHOULDN'T NEED BACKUP IF THEY'RE NOT INCOMPETANT OR THIEVES!!!:|:|
