Played the demo was lackluster at best. Im going back to playing some Supreme Commander. No strategic zoom ruined any potential this game had for me. No innovation once so ever in the game, brings nothing new to the table for the genre. Plays like any C&C game but with a pretty face lift. I rate this demo C+ for a next gen RTS, the only good thing is the ease on computer requirments.

Supreme Commander sucks, it?s so boring. (IMO)

Anyway, just played both campaigns and a skirmish match on the demo. This game is excellent, I love it.

When the game comes out we will have to set up some AT multiplayer skirmishes for sure.

I guess you never played Supreme Commander online. The demo is not so good and the AI is not the best but online play is very competitive and fun. Most the people who are holding out on Supreme Commander will be buying it when the mods start flowing in. I have doubts C&C 3 will be played much past a year and a half. Supreme Commander on the other hand will be played with a dedicated community for at least 5 years.

lol, listen to the fanboys!
if the game is so great, why are people holding out for mods? that statement just totally blows my mind.

are you nostrodamus or something?

Well, first of all, most people only have 1 monitor(including myself) While that benefit would certainly be nice if I had 2 monitors, I don't.

The zooming is just not that important to me. It wastes more time than it is worth IMO. Again, I didn't play the SupCom full demo(only part) because it ran so poorly for me. There are people with much worse systems than mine who say it plays very well for them, but mine for some reason played very bad(and is the main reason I will not get the game). But back to zooming. I would rather sit in the sweet spot than have to zoom in and out ever time I wanted to do anything.

I felt that SupCom did not have this sweet spot. They made the game so you pretty much have to use the zoom. That is the difference to me. SupCom makes you have to zoom by not having a zoom level where you can play the entire game. I happen to prefer the C&C method.

The base game is already great the mods is the icing the cake. Calling me a fan boy is alright I am biased towards SupCom because I loved TA... A year from now will really show which game will shine we will have to wait and see.

How about the people hating on SupCom and praising C&C, when ultimately the former has an 87% average on gamerankings? MikeyLSU is the fanboy here, eh? Ultimately, people are entitled to their opinions.

I'd also like to point out that the graphics in this demo aren't particularly good compared to the likes of Supreme Commander, or even Company of Heroes.

You making an assumption that people are not buying it from thin air. Wait till the NPD numbers come out then you can feel like a fool.

We cant fully compare C&C 3 yet to Supreme Commander until C&C 3 hits stores. However it will be interesting to see how it fares and what the average ratings score is at gamerankings.com .

You can?t really compare them anyway. The only thing they have in common is the fact they are both RTS games. I think the game caters for two different target audiences.

I just didn't like Supreme Commander, as I just didn't get on at all with the game play (demo). C&C on the other hand I enjoyed.

I?m personally not a fanboy, I like what I like, and I have always liked C&C games.

I also hated Total Annihilation when that was released. It?s the style of game play I hate.

The music did not seem to be that much of an impact unfortunately. I was really looking forward to a seriously awesome soundtrack. The explosions look very impressive though.

Have you ever even looked at Company of Heroes??!?!?!? :disgust:

a games popularity has little to do with how good the game actually is. Act Of War is a perfect example, didn't sell for sh!t, but was, and still is more fun (and better) than most games out. C&C 3 will sell more because it has EA behind it, and people who remember the previous C&C games. Supreme Commander is probably selling, it's on sale at a bunch of stores. And I saw spots for it in most of the Sunday store ad's. Factor in it has a nice overall score on gamerankings.com, I think the only people who believe SupCom isn't good are the people who like C&C.

as for Nightmare225, I have to disagree, Company Of Heroes looks better, and compared to Supreme Commander, I don't think C&C looks much better, if at all.

You need to touch up on your reading comprehension, I have never said that people werent buying the game. I said people holding out on SupCom will be buying it when mods start coming in.

if they are holding on on buying until mods come out, doesn't that mean they aren't buying it????

how do you buy something but hold off from buying it until more mods come out?
and again, why do they need to wait for more mods? you still haven't answered that question. are you even reading your own posts?

as for calling me a fanboy, i already said i wasn't too impressed with C&C3. you're the one who came into the C&C thread talking about how SC is so much better.

my suggestion is to stop quoting everything. Start a new quote with just the recent post, it is starting to get too cluttered.

And am I a fanboy? yes, but not to C&C, I am a starcraft fanboy. I went in to both of these games fairly objective.

Just because some people are waiting to see how well the mod community takes off doesn't mean everyone's holding off. They're not mutually exclusive concepts ffs.

Definitely enjoyed it. The gfx are excellent, and it plays very well. Not all too different from traditional C&C, but far better than the mess that was supreme commander. Looks great, runs great, plays great.

I have to disagree supreme commander is not a mess. It ranks up there as one of the best RTS games made to date (of course everyone has their opinion but the consensus is great game, from most gamers and game reviewers).

I agree with BD2003, if that's supposed to be the most long-awaited sequel to one of the ZOMG best games ever, I'm

Anyway, this is a C&C thread so I'll download that tonight and see if that's any cop.

No, you're just arguing semantics and being just as much of a dick as he is.

But to keep this post on-topic, has anyone else had the game just up and die on them? It's happened to me both times I've tried playing for more than a few minutes, once in the tutorial and once in a skirmish.

And I really can't stand the fact that I can't zoom out, I feel like I'm trapped in a little box the whole time.

You can zoom just fine. Also, I've had no problems with my install so far.

As for the gameplay, ive had a chance to finish the missions and do the tutorial, they were pretty sweet, especially the mammoth tank mission where you sink battleships. The guy inside the tank dosent lie when he says "Unstoppable!" and "Armor superioity!"

 what game are you playing? my C&C3 demo doesn't have any missions with naval units... i didn't even get to build any vehicles except for Orcas in the demo campaign.

There are two docked battleships to be sunk.

Wow, cool game.

Feels just like C&C...I just picked it up and played it.

Whoever said something about the graphics being bad; I respectfully disagree...I think this game looks awesome, and I'm impressed at how quick it runs on my very old system (X800Pro, AXP 3200+).

I'm definately going to pick up a copy of this game. It's great so far.

My only gripe is that it's practically identical to the old C&C games and the only real addition is great graphics and sound.
