1.17G Demo

I think it's just a demo reserve. It works somewhat like Valve's steam. The file gets preloaded to your computer and you get the key to unlock it on the day of release. I don't think its been released yet.

Also you need to be a paid subscriber to FilePlanet.

Aw, man. I was getting excited, too. :|

I was getting real excited until I saw the post about the "demo reserve."

That's unfortunate. :(

For those with EA link, once you download it can you burn the files to a dvd and then copy them to another computer so that you dont have to download them again or use the EA link manager.

I will pick it up a year after launch when EA patches it out of beta (assuming they are still supporting it by then).

woot! its unlocking now!

played the tutorial and a skirmish game (only 1 map). It's pretty much the same ol' C&C. I didn't try campaign yet, so maybe that might help redeem the game some. there are some neat units but nothing really new, at least that i noticed. Graphics are ok, not spectacular like the ads seem to show, and i had everything on max (see my system below). It ran fairly decent (for me) on max settings, no lag. I might want to lower some things like AA to get a little better performance though.

Gameplay is pretty much the same as every other C&C. It does seem a little slow though, especially to build up. Even on easy, the enemy is fairly tough, but I'm not a wiz at RTS games. Garrisoned buildings seem to play a bigger part in the game this time. They can withstand a good pounding. Doesn't seem to be much in the way of upgrades.

Infantry deaths sound like the original sounds from the first C&C which I thought was kind of cool, brings back a few memories. Music seemed ok, wasn't really paying attention but it sounded like the same track all through the time i played (it is a demo though). Weapon sounds seem pretty good.

I've been a big C&C fan from the 1st one to Red Alert 2. Tiberium Sun didn't do a whole lot for me. Generals was a bit better than TS, but still lacked something to me. Going back to its roots for C&C 3 helped, but I'm not sure I'm going to buy it.

My system specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
7800GT 256mb ram
2 GB RAM
20" 2005FPW @ 1680x1050

Awsome demo, ive only played a skirmish game against an easy AI (have to win my first c&c 3 game) and i crushed it. The mammoth mk III's power is awsome, the way you can construct things while you fight is great. For an easy AI its not half bad either, sneak attacked me a few times and destroyed a tiberium spike. Also i dont think silos will be much of a problem, they hold a LOT, money in this game is like money in ra2, it flows nicely if you know what you're doing. The mammoth isnt as effective against infantry as its mk I counterpart, in that infantry do actually stand a chance, but it will still crush a good number before succumbing to them.

One thing i didnt like, trees look pretty bad. Thats about it though, the rest of the game is great. I can see those mobile defensive deploy things becoming very useful. Two mammoths are a good defence of a remote location too.

Definitely enjoyed it. The gfx are excellent, and it plays very well. Not all too different from traditional C&C, but far better than the mess that was supreme commander. Looks great, runs great, plays great.

I have to disagree supreme commander is not a mess. It ranks up there as one of the best RTS games made to date (of course everyone has their opinion but the consensus is great game, from most gamers and game reviewers).

i'm left very unimpressed by the demo. i felt like i already played the game before. going to give it a try on a higher difficulty and see if i enjoy it more.

So, is it a regular demo, or a reserved demo that needs a registration code?
