My thoughts from I thread I started earlier this week, FWIW.

And Citrix - I feel your pain. Being in a situation like that is my personal hell. Except in my hell they fall asleep and start to snuggle up to you, too. :disgust:

You forgot to mention that they happen to be quite gassy, as well.

Luckily, I haven't been in that dimension of purgatory, yet. However, I do notice that they're very sweaty and that their breathing is VERY labored.

A guy I knew was extremely overweight in college. He was a nice guy and was also in Computer Science. He overate a little, but not that much (I ate more than him). The difference was, was he was inactive. I think some people reach a point where it is really hard to work out with the extra weight. Although it is hard, I don't think it is an excuse not to try.

I actually think the ones at the gym that walk on the treadmill everday need some respect. Of course, I don't know if they shovel food into their mouths afterwards though, but at least they are trying to be more active.

I live in Savannah, and you can spot a tourist from a mile away, because you can see them from that distance. The only tourists that come here are fat old white people, and every fricken one of them goes to Lady & Sons, to gourge themselves on the all you can eat southern trough (buffet).

LMAO, my wife wanted to see that place this past January when we drove through Savannah, but Streets and Trips had the wrong address for it. Lucky me! :D

I agree with you, but the sad truth is that they are not in the majority.

That's not shallow, unless you are a member of the School of the Bleeding Heart. Physical appearance is one of the most important aspects of human social interaction.

Perhaps. From the sound of most of your posts, though, you're just a gamma male.

come on, you have to admit that getting fat is really fun

(to be honest though, I really like sports and running and weight lifting and I don't think those things would be fun if I was obese.)

Srsly,

a) How can you let yourself get that fat?
b) If you do in all defiance of common sense, why don't you work to loose it?

I'm not talking a little paunch here, i'm talking those blimp-like people you seem to see more & more these days...usually shoving fast food down their throats at a terrifying speed.

Don't give me any of that 'genetic predisposition to getting fat crap either and making it IMPOSSIBLE to loose weight, it's essentially BS & nothing a good diet/excercise won't solve).

I've found that limiting my interest in weight and health to my own body generally produces better results than does putting other people down.

good for you, what do you want now? A cookie? Sorry, they're awfully fattening.

The D&D reference is the best part of this thread!

So do I.
But it's not shallow to want to be attractive to potential mates and to want those mates to be attractive to you.

But I agree, the fast-food cramming fatties are repulsive.

200 lbs is not a big guy if you are 5 ft 11 or taller as most men are.

I'd venture to say that 230+ is starting to get big..

Because we have to smell them, and fat thighs rubbing together can cause fires.

No, it doesn't. It depends on many factors, as evidenced here.

No, you're wrong.

When it all comes down to it...if you intake more calories than they burn then they gain weight...if they burn more than they consume then they lose weight.

It IS that simple....

How is it that caveats are referenced in this thread, links are provided, and people still insist on sticking to their dogma?

As already mentioned, your body reacts differently to alcohol than it does to carbohydrates. This isn't the only example either. In an extremely high protein diet your body will often excrete the excess protein rather than burn it or store it.
