I was suggested to try colonic irrigation from a health nut and want some input.
Recently I have no appetite and feel full all the time... so I might try this, though it is kinda freaky to me.
Anyone have any factual input on their experiences.
And yes, I expect some trolls because the anus is involved.. :/

One of my favorite topics. Believe me, I am all for allopathic and osteopathic medicine, (I do start med school Aug. 4), but let's be honest, they have been around and legitamate for maybe 2 or 3 centuries. The Germ theory was around the mid 1800's.
Compare that to Acupuncture which that they have archaeological evidence for a couple thousand years B.C. and documentation from around 200 C.E.

It most certainly is. It produces bile, which is released into the intestine in order to assist fat digestion. After use, the green bile turns into brown bile salts - and this is why faeces is brown.
This is why one symptom of liver failure is white (or pale) faeces - the liver produces no bile (or the bile can't get to the intestine).
Anyway, back to the main point of the thread - the colon is self cleaning. Stuff moves linearly through it, an the colon produces a mucusy secretion from its walls that acts like a non-stick coating, and actually pushes stuff off the walls of the colon. Unless there is actually a physical blockage (e.g. a cancer, or faeces that is so hard and dry it won't move) stuff cannot get stuck to the colon. It's physically impossible.
The other point, is that a lot of people claim the colon is for excretion. Some also claim it's for digestion. It isn't. The colon doesn't excrete anything and doesn't digest anything. It's purpose is storage and drying of faeces. If transit through the colon is very slow, e.g. due to lack of fibre, then the faeces will be extremely dry and hard by the time it reaches the end.
A lot of people claim that taking some 'cleansing diet' releases vast quantities of debris from their system. In general, all that these people are seeing is either the digested contents of the diet (which can often look very weird), or the faeces that was already in transit and would have come out anyway.
I wonder if the team that named that product managed the inital pitch presentation with a straight face? I mean the ironing is deep.Originally posted by: DeathBUA

What exactly does it entail? Do you drink something and it cleanses the body?</blockquote>
What?
The thing the OP is talking about i believe is those health drinks you buy, and you ONLY drink those - and it gives you massive...exit of stuffs... for like 3 days... ive talked to some who says its awesome. Elliot in the morning was asking people about it (DC101 talk show host in NoVA) and lots of people said it was great...
Its supposed to get rid of all the bad stuff in ya..
Apparently to be 'regular' you're supposed to have a BM at least once, if not twice a day. Personally, i dont know if i WANT to be spending my time doing that 3 times a day...

So were trepaning and bleeding and leeches. Argument from antiquity is probably worse than argument from ignorance.

What do you think it could possibly do that would be good for you?</blockquote>
Well, the average person who eats the crap I do has pounds of compacted stuff in there digestive system just sitting there for all eternity.... colonic irrigation therapy is known to help clear that out.
John Wayne had 30 lbs of compacted undigestive junk in his intestines when he died... mostly because he ate steaks as his main source of food. So that little tidbit made me wonder what I got going on in my system.
I might try it, setup an appointment at 3pm for one session @ $75. If I go through with it, I'll tell you all how I feel and if it worked.
