Tomorrow I will drive to work in an SUV, dressed head to toe in fur, while eating a hamburger and tossing beer cans out the window. I'll give them something to protest.

Why is the younger generations so liberal today? It's like they aspire to take part in the idealogy of protests and causes of the 60's, yet they lack a true cause and in most cases have no idea about the issue they are protesting.

Yes, there are some intelligent young people who know what they are talking about, but the majority of these protesters are ignorant me-too type people.

How is it any different from the "younger generation" of the 60s? Or any era, for that matter?

Because the protestors of the 60's were generally better educated and more knowledgable of the subject.

You may have had that impression, but I bet if there was a way to quantify such data, the ratio of sheep to people who actually have a clue is probably about the same.

I really don't mind protest if you feel an issue is wrong, and if you are knowledgable about the subject, but what really pisses me off is when these people aren't even very familiar with the facts of the issue they are protesting.

Case in point, the numerous "Anti-Globalization" protests that take place whenever the world economic forums take place. These people protest and cause all kinds of trouble, and they are some of the most ignorant people you could ever find. They haven't got a clue as to what they are protesting. They just want to be part of a scene. It's pathetic.

I understand that war isn't the answer to everything but what else are we to do? Do they really want the end of the world to come sooner? They may be protesting but they are not giving any realistic feedback to support their cause.

Well it should be interesting to see tomorrow how many people actually protest. Not sure how many people are antiwar and how many are supporting it, but the rumor is that some teachers will also protest. I personally anti protesting but if its the case that people from my class that starts at 11:20 due start protesting I am just not going to attend class and instead go home. Those that attend ucla, anyone of u have a test tomorrow around 11:15. Just wondering how far the student will go to speak their mind

I don't know... I bet most of those hippy girls thought LBJ was spanish for a blow job.

I agree with you though... most people of my generation don't stay educated on world affairs. They protest the war without knowing all the issues. I'll admit that I'm not keeping up with all the issues either, but then again this war is much more black and white for me. Besides, I'm a libertarian, and pretty much bitter about everything.

If you are against the war, go walkout. Otherwise, sit your ass down. I don't have class at 11:15 but even if I did I wouldn't walk out. Part of being an engineer is being conservative. But, I was conservative long before I decided to persue engineering.

Seeing as how my college is on spring break this week, I highly doubt it's national.

How sad that apathy reigns in the hearts of so many... Life is not about studying.

Gee what great mentality....

I'll show you..I'll walk out of classes that I'm paying for...oh wait a minute let me rephrase that, the TAXPAYERS are paying for...I'll show you I will.

Go ahead walk out you are just throwing my money and a days worth of your education down the sh!tter. That kind of thinking says so much more than your actions ever will.

So, let me get this straight.... People are going to protest a war situation by not attending classes they have paid a lot of money to attend. This is like someone buying food at Burger King and then not taking the food he/she paid for in order to show a protest agains a possible war.

Am I the only one that thinks war protesting is a complete waste of time and an excuse for many to be apathic to other areas of their lives?

Please... the average college student misses more class due to hangovers than to war protests. I don't see anyone b#tching about that. And war protesting is not a waste of time- the only reason the Vietnam war ended was because of grass roots protests like the one that's going down tomorrow. If missing one day of class is going to affect your intellectual capacity that much- do you even belong in college?

Of course you guys feel that way, because you don't place much value in protesting. But what if it were something really valuable and meaningful to you, like having to take your wife to the hospital or something. I don't think you'll be saying "oh no I'm throwing my money away". The point is that sometimes there's things more important than just school and studying, and you have to get your priorities straight in those circumstances.

ok this qualifies as the *dumbass comparison of the day*. There is a HUGE difference between voluntarily walking out of a class to state your views and missing a days class to take someone to a hospital. If you cannot see the difference then you are wasting your time in school.

To the other point of students missing class because of hangovers...that is also stupid. Party on the weekend when you have time to recover...I did.

After you get out of school pull this crap for an employer. Miss days due to hangovers, or walk off the job so that you can protest a political point of view...see you in the unemployment line.
