College Should be Free, they can pay for it with the money they would save on welfare and prisons and people would also make more and then pay more taxes also

free? who would pay the teachers? Who would pay for the printing of books? who wold pay for the electricity, heat, water..etc and insurance for the school? Who would pay for all the supplies that the teachers use? Who would pay the office personel? who would pay for the counselors and whatever?

people that want an education figure out a way to get one, most people on welfare and many that are in prison are there because of their choices in life, not because college cost too much money

Personally, I paid my way thru college by putting links to kickass sites in my signature, and I got paid when everyone clicked on them.
yes, the increased productivity would more than pay it off within a few years after people graduate

We have one of the best and most accessible higher education systems in the world. Almost anyone can get a loan for college, and the loan terms are very reasonable.
Let's worry about getting everyone proper high school education before we worry about college for everyone.
if college were free some people would be permanent students to keep from getting a job. overall a very bad idea

Free public higher education IS a liberal statement moron.
Just because higher education is free does not mean more people will be able to go. Right now most colleges already offer huge amounts of money deductions. And in many cases, in some private schools, if they feel you should come to this school, they WILL find the money for you.
A lot of nations have free universities but their welfare and crime isn't necessarily lower than ours. Not to mention just because the college is free doesn't mean you're smart enough to get in. THe people on welfare and go to jail did'nt drop out of college because they couldn't afford, they just didn't go in the first place because they have no motivation to succeed (this is a sweeping generalization of course)
not all people in prison are from gangs or drugs and i didnt say it would elminate it, it would cut down on the number of people in prison and welfare

high schools are not free. workers pays for them thru taxes. and if you want the same to apply for colleges, then you are not asking for them to be free. what you are asking for is that someone else will pay for you to go to college.
