I caught it tonight, I sat there thinking the whole foil character setup was very reminiscent of Heat and
what do you know, same director. Loved the harsh grainy filter and the gritty motion. Enjoyed the film,
Curise was pretty badass. It was pretty predictable, and in the same way Heat kinda dragged on, so did
this movie, the pacing was good for me but i can see how some people can get bored. Anyway I ejoyed it.

if you ignore some of the logical flaws with the movie (why would a hitman take a taxi? :Q), the movie is pretty enjoyable.

Movie looks good, interesting concept. Ten bucks says either Cruise's character ends up killing Foxx's or vice versa.

I saw it today and loved it. Jamie Foxx was really good. Can someone explain how the club gunfight started? Was it the bad guy's goons who had the guns out first and the Asian guy's guards saw them? I was pretty confused. There were too many closeups for my liking but other than that it was very good.

That was confusing to me as well, but I think the struggle you're referring to started between a FBI agent and an asian guard? Michael Mann walks on water!

Mann will definately get some praise for this film. Superb cinematography. Only he can make LA look beautiful.

Mann is a director, not a cinematographer. 🙂 I wouldn't go and give him all the credit althought I'm sure he had some kind of input.

Anyway, I think the movie looks great. I'm very anxious to see this and Garden State.

I just came here to say this movie sucks ass.

<Definitely Spoiler>

The character build up sucks so bad, it's not even funny.
The director spends so much time on the narcotic cop, then all a sudden he got shot.
I was hoping a face-off type shoot out of him with tom cruise.
Cruise sucks at acting, there's no substance in his character.
Are we supposed to assume he's a half-ass hitman? Because the way he kills people is really amateur.
The ending of the movie is also ridiculous, there's no suspense because it's so obvious.

Bah, lost the post I had written 🙁

Short summary:
why did they show the bacardi silver ad so many times for no reason?
do that many people really use motorola v600s?
couldnt they have cut out the last 20 minutes of the movie, and not have had it end retarded?

I felt this movie was incomplete. They left many issues unresolved. The first 80% was really good, then it kind of pooped out. Oh well 🙁

SPOILER...

I agree with that. There's all the buildup for the cop storyline and then whoops he's dead and the only other cop in the movie is the dumbass that Foxx disarms.

I agree with the cop, but what the hell do you know about being a hitman? the action scenes when he beat up and shot people were just fine.

I thought the movie was brilliant. It was different. Not the same old shoot'em up story. The only thing I thought took a nose dive was the ending. It should have played out that he just walked away. But the irony was definately good. I thought the acting was rather good. And it had its funny moments. TC is terrific as a hitman. TC's look was all that. Its a very very good movie. 🙂

just got back tonite seeing it and heres my snip

AWESOME, MIND BLOWING! Michael mann will just amaze you with his talent
This movie was the pursuit of perfection. michael menn always has directed mind blowing movies. The movie answered just about if's and but's of the actions taken by max and vincent.. michael menn directed superbly. Tom crusie acting at its best! jamie foxx A+ couldnt have chosen anyone better for this role. both stars had eye to eye dialogue and presented as if you were in that cab.. i would recommend this movie to anyone. also the special cinematography was perfect for this movie.. made L.A look like its a whole new city.. GO SEE IT!

really this movie was PERFECT.. i think if i was in that situation of the cab driver i would of done same steps... and i gotta say this.. Tom C. looked good !
