Have been playing CoD5 for 3 days now and have completed the game upto the flying gunship level.

Apart from the fact that there is NO connection between the Pacific and Russian levels I think this is the best WW2 action game that I have played till date.

The game play is ABSOUTELY chaotic (just the way it should be IMO)...and the graphic's really hit home.

The one think that was missing in the COD series was the sheer brutality of war....
That really has been addressed here to a level which I thought deserved some praise.

Starting right off with the brutal torture and execution of a fellow soldier . . to the burning of the Jap soldiers using flamethrower . . . to the opening scene a la "Enemy at the Gates" . . . to the killing of surrendering German soldiers . . . to the part where YOU are given an option to execute 3 Germans . . either quickly by putting bullets into them . . . or using moltov coctail to burn them.

I found these scenes especially disturbing.

They are just incredibley executed to showcase that aspect of war.

The previous effort from TreyArch didnt go down too well BUT this I found just perfect.

I would highly recommend this to people who have not been TOTALLY jaded by WW2 action titles.

goddamnit! I am so on the fence about this game and you guys aren't helping. I loved every CoD game so far except 3 because I never played it (never came out on PC). I keep hearing that it sucks and then it's awesome. it got good reviews for the most part, but so did FC2 and that game got old pretty quickly.

COD 5 is well worth the money. DONT GET THE CE, just buy the regular edition. It is a good game, and I am glad they went back to WWII. I for one like the MP, but thats most of the reason I even buy War era games, is the multiplayer.

Its a good buy, and I don't think you will feel ripped off. You also can't really compare it with COD4, because they are based on 2 totally different types of fighting and weaponry.

Yeah me too...from so far what I've read on the internet it's good to excellent! I haven't played it yet, but on Wikipedia it is stated it has an 88% aggregate review score! :)

I'm glad to hear people are liking it, but people liked UT2k4 and i can't stand it. COD WAW is being sold at an etailer for 35$ and I shelled out the credit for it :D

Hoping its good.

I have both Cod4 and WaW. I hated CoD4, but I like WaW much better. I'm thinking that it's whether you like Ww2 to modern combat because I also enjoy Dod more than cs.

If you think the previous CoD games were way too obviously scripted, cookie cutter shooters, and think the WW2 genre has been way overdone anyway, and think the series is the most overhyped batch of average shooters out there, any chance that person would like it?

I absolutely love WWII games so I'm not getting tired of the genre, but I'm of the opinion WaW is a total rip off. It's simply too short to be a full price game period. Most expansion packs play this long or longer. The game itself is okay, though IMO they borked the bolt action rifles. In games such as these they should be one shot, one kill to the head/center mass, otherwise there is no incentive not to use the automatic weapons. If it helps any I've always preferred MOH-AA/Spearhead to the COD series of games, but enjoyed them very much as well and really liked COD4 even but this one is just a disappointment. If you do buy it at least don't waste your money on the collectors edition.

You're trying like hell, but you're just not very good at it. I'm clearly positing a hypothetical situation, not making any statements. Hence the use of "if".

No such thing as CoD 5. I suspect CoD 5 will be the title of the next Infinity Ward title.

Glad to hear it's good though. I had been ignoring it, but maybe I'll check it out.

Finished CoD5:WaW today.
Had a feeling that it's a little shorter than Cod4 ! ! & I thought CoD4 was short....

Frankly thers nothing new in this game...but what's presented is not low budget / patch work.

Any idea what CoD6 will be based on?Vietnam?....Or are we done with the CoD series.......;-)

CoD 6 maybe set in Vietnam, just my speculation though. The genre listed is FPS > Modern on one of the gaming websites I saw it on. A little about it here:

Ha!

Robert Kotick has been pretty damn clear about what Activision intends to do with its franchises. Reminder: They are now merged with Blizzard. Reason to be worried?

You'll keep getting graphical updates to Call of Duty until you stop buying 'em.

this is a very very good game, too short imo, but the last one was shorter.

the DEMO for this game sucks, compare to the real game, so some of the bad press is undeserved.
