I'm not sure what's more painful, the actual event or the milking of it for commercial and political purposes since.

I am more pained by the rising costs of gas than any of the dumbass events from 5 years ago. I should make a 24 hour video of the pennies counting up on a gas tank.

Given that you are probably about 12 years old, this wouldn't surprise me.

he wouldnt be caring about gas if he was 12

and i do think it is a minor event in comparison with others around the world

Like _______________?

Well, in terms of death tolls and other damage - Katrina, the tsunami in Indonesia....etc.
Natural disasters excluded, however, I can't think of any that are bigger ATM...

That's because you're a dumb fvck.

I was only glued to the television between classes... By 3pm, it seemed obvious that the terrorists had finished their day's work, nothing was going to change except policies and the ratio of facts/speculation on the news. So, I went hunting that afternoon. But, I still remember how eerily silent it was in the woods - normally there's sound from passing jets, and traffic on distant highways. I had never noticed that noise before, but definitely noticed its absence.

Yes I remember the same thing. I went and sat outside my house (in the woods) and there was a calm I had never noticed before. I always have wondered if it truly was that calm or the events of the day made me appreciate the beauty of it more

I'm pretty sure it's only being shown on the internet, not the actual TV station

I might look at it. I missed about the first hour as I was being driven to school by my dad and we dropped my older sister off several minutes before the first plane hit.

I still am kinda upset at the movie, and at the fact that people are all "Never forget!11" and that dumb sh1t. How the fvck would you forget something like that? Did you look at WWII and think "Nah, didn't really like it, I'm gonna forget about it?"

Well apparently, 30% of adults between the ages of 45 and 65 don't know what year Sept 11 happened. I know this may sound wierd but I'm going to record the whole day on to my computer..

I don't think it's weird at all. I saved three newspapers from the year after since all had things about 9/11 from the 10th-12th. I just don't like how "Never forget" has become the catchphrase for the event. I dunno, I guess it's just stupid to me that there was such an immense amount of pseudo-patriotism and now where is it? Never forget is like the way most of those people are like "See, I care about our country." I liked the fact that we were all together as a country, but look what it took. And look how long our unity lasted. It's sad.

What, you don't have matching 9/11 coffee mugs, 9/11 coasters, and 9/11 coffee table book?

You hate America or something?

Oh yes of course I've got multiple sets! Heck I've even got the replica twin towers that when you throw objects at them little plastic people spring out of the windows. I unsuccessfully tried to set them on fire for the fun of it but instructions say they ignite with jet fuel only. :( Collectors edition, made by Hasbro!

And then theirs my sterling silver model of the Pentagon with a big divet missing from one side. Limited edition from the Franklin Mint, sure to be worth buku bucks in a few years!

In all honesty I completely agree with you.

But I'm mostly posting to award you with the most creative spelling of beaucoup I've ever seen!
Damn, I made no association between those two words :Q

yeah, beaucoup is French for 'a lot'

If anyone records this and makes it available for download, will someone please let me know? I'm interested in watching it, but I'm at work and cannot :(. When this happened, I didn't wake up that morning until around 10:30 or 11am, sometime right before the towers fell, so I didn't get to see the first reactions and confusion that went on.

Thanks to anyone who can hook me up!

Anybody watching this with a new perspective after all the conspiracy theories that have popped up?

Phrases like, "there has been another explosion in the building" and "word of a bomb in one of the buildings" seem so much louder.

Some of the comments are just idiotic. I wish that news casters would report the news and stop trying to commentate (this goes beyond September 11th. Ever watched hurricane coverage? :p). Did anyone else hear the woman ask some expert 'So, can we close off the airspace?' The guy responds something along the lines of 'Uhh, no. We can broadcast that the airspace is closed but there is not a gate or anything for airspace.'

For those bashing the networks for their 9/11 coverage: I'd like to any of you twits try to not only keep your composure when your city is being blown up, and then get on air and report about it.

The 50,000 figure was an estimate of how many worked in the trade center on any given day. Never was quoted as how many were dead. Additionally, as a journalist, I'm never a fan of unsubstantiated material making it on the air, but in the midst of a disaster, it happens. Personally I'd rather have the information available to me and do some evaluation based on the evidence presented at a time like 9/11, but not everyone is capable of analysis....

FWIW, CNN here is not broadcasting anything from 9/11. I'm getting CNN international. No other stations are doing it either.

Hah... I think 99% of the people who use that word don't know how to spell it - and probably have never even seen it in print

Not to mention people spelling voila as whallaa!
