I personally would have been more impressed if the protestors had each burned the $100 or so theyve received so far due to the obama tax cut in one giant bonfire.

Theyd thereby be strengthening the american dollar, rather than stimulating the lipton tea bag business.

I personally didnt see much of a protest - everyone was smiling, like it was one big conservative circle jerk. I saw two of these rallies on the way home.

I'm all for their right to protest, but it just seems so....odd to me.

Who the fsck cares? He came off like a typical incoherent Sean Hannity caller. "You're a great American, Sean. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..."

The reporter didn't hear a Daily Show talking point so she cut him off, and you're here bashing him because he sounds like he's just spewing a talking point. Your type of dishonesty is what is turning this country into a shithole because you actively seek to trap others in your own stupidity.

Fact is, 99.9% of the morons at these tea parties have not had their taxes raised, instead they'll be benefiting from a tax break under Obama. Like I said, they have no f'ing clue why they're so pissed off other than the fact that Fox News told them to be.

Then you are 99.9% incapable of thinking for yourself. Unlike your typical liberal who can't see ahead for more than 2 hours, conservatives see a dark cloud coming as Congress and Obama are spending our children's children's money in taxes. Taxes WILL go up. If you had a reliable news agency you would easily know what they are protesting, but instead of you limit yourself to only batshit crazy liberals who wouldn't tell the truth if their life depended on it.

No, I think the rest of us get it - these tea parties aren't so much about protesting taxes, which obviously have not increased for the vast majority of Americans - no, rather these protests are a thinly veiled protest against Obama and Democrats and liberals in general. We get it - you want Obama to fail - it's painfully obvious.

But excuse me, don't let me get in the way of your prognosticating, doom and gloom preaching, and hate-filled ranting against your perceived enemies. The rest of us get it. That CNN reporter obviously gets it. It has nothing to do with taxes, and everything to do with your partisan hatred.

I can't believe you just used a cartoon as evidence of media bias. Or that you termed a talking dog a liberal with a "damning tone".

You may want to step away from the boob tube for a little while and talk to someone about the whole persecution complex - it's funny, but not ha-ha funny, know what I mean?

Edit: I needed to quote what you wrote for posterity.

wow I'm glad I'm not the only one that caught how stupid this is

oooo, I bet you feel real clever there with your Jonestown cult reference and the communist reference. Got anything with more substance in that little brain of yours.

PS:
It's crap like this, from both sides of the aisle that makes P&N painful to read.

I guess CNN would respect these people more if they were burning effigies (however thats spelled) of Bush, breaking windows of business, and flipping cars over.

Yep, she got owned.

And dealmonkey - give it up. Taxes were raised substantially with BB.

What does BB stand for?

That Bastard Barack. Me and friends at work got tired of calling him "that damned bastard, barack" so we shortened it to "BB".

sounds like you have quite the echo chamber you have there

I was with my grandmother in the hospital today and she had both CNN and Fox on at various points. As someone who basically never watches TV news, I'm fairly appalled on both stations. The commentators are blatantly biased, completely uneducated on the topics they're discussing, and clearly left on the air far too long without new relevant information to discuss. The shows would have been better with fewer talking heads and more screen time allowing people from the street on both sides to talk. At least there would be some more creative content.

Has CNN made a case for that in the past? Love to see any links you may have for that...

Or are you just thrashing about in your angst, Scarlett?

Maybe those idiots figured out us borrowing trillions of dollars from China to jump start an economy that's in the shitter, while paying 3 dollars back for every dollar we borrowed aint that grand an idea?

That or they are just mindless ditto heads

When have we paid ANY of it back, much less at 300%?

Remember that when our Dollar is more worthless

You are aware that we just had year-over-year deflation (dollar becoming more valuable) for the first time in 54 years, right?

You are aware that the government printed an additional trillion dollars that will flood our nation with inflation once the economy starts to turn around, right?

Look on the bright side - with inflation and the disgustingly low interest rates we're selling T-bills at, by the time we get around to paying them off, we'll have gotten a pretty sweet deal out of it.

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with all the liberals who put on an act that government spending is "free money" ?

This forum is full of liberals who love to argue partisan topics. Just answer this one question - WHERE IS THIS THE MONEY COMING FROM? And you can't use the "taxes on the rich" line because the rich are not that rich...

The money is coming from govt bonds purchased by investors at all-time record low interest rates (edit: for economically braindead, read less than 1/100th of the aforementioned 300%).

And knock off the idiot partisan baiting. Seriously. The only people who ever argue that any forum is "full of <insert supposed opposing ideology here> who love who argue partisan topics" are hardcore partisans who do nothing but argue partisan topics, usually validating their arguments on the basis of nothing but pure partisanship.

the british dropped the tax on tea in order to sell of the huge stockpiles the east india company built up. This hurt the new england mercantile industry which was based out of boston and killed their profit margins on smuggled tea. People went to protest their cheap tea because it hurt the margins of their very wealthy merchant elite.

You honestly believe you got a tax cut? Do you really believe this? Seriously? Did you not pay attention to his campaign or the recent bills passed into law?

This is an overly simplistic and slanted synopsis of what happened, at best.

It's also important to note that what the British were imposing on the colonies was not what we would consider taxation in the modern sense. More like the tribute forced from a conquered territory/people. Taxation implies monies collected for the public good. What the colonists paid went to England and never came back. This difference is crucial.

I will grant that today's scenario is even more different. Now we're the England, and the only substantial change from the previous administration is that instead of taking China's tribute to spend in Iraq (which the outrage wingnuts here cheered about), we're now taking China's tribute to spend here in the US.
