Are you claiming that rape is a consequence of placing herself in a compromising situation?

In case you haven't noticed, we're posting in a thread specifically about THIS CASE.

I can't figure out exactly what your opinion is. You say the rapists are accountable for their actions, but you want to hold their victim accountable for what was done to her, as well.

What EXACTLY is it that you think she should be held accountable for? And why are you posting it in a thread about convicted rapists?

Does this help?

A = passed out drunk girl
B = horny drunken dudes
C = rape/non-consensual sex

C is a possible result of A + B. She has no control over B. But she is in complete control over A. If she is unwilling to take control of A, then she should know that B and C are a possible outcome. The refusal to take control of herself is what she is accountable for, and it IS part of the chain of events which led to the outcome you're seeing.

Horny drunk dudes do NOT rape passed out drunk girls UNLESS they have a big problem knowing right from wrong, or a criminal disregard for the same.

Their decision to commit a criminal act or acts is the intervening cause, not her decision to be stupid drunk.

so her actions contributed to her rape as you outlined?

I don't agree with that, I think B isnt just horney drunk dudes either because plenty of horney drunk dudes don't rape drunk women.

See, there you go trying to shift the accountability away from her. Well, reality disagrees with you. It's the same as going to a dangerous neighborhood at night, and getting mugged. You say "not everyone in that neighborhood is a mugger unless they're a criminal", but it doesn't matter. The fact that the neighborhood is known to have a high risk of crime makes you accountable for ignoring that risk.

The rape rate usually doubles when strict gun control goes into effect.

So I'm not surprised honestly, because its CNN. But agree with OPs sentiment.

I wonder if Munky would say that a Child that falls for a stranger offering candy or a box of puppies in his backseat is responsible for being sexual assaulted.

It's still poor judgement, right?

Are you saying that women have the mental capacity of children?

I guess that depends on if you think women have the intellectual capability of children :colbert:

She's completely accountable for being stupid. No one has denied that in any way, so what accountability do you think is being shifted away from her?

She's not accountable for someone else's decision to commit a crime. That's on them, and them alone.

Saying that the victim exercised bad judgment isn't excusing the rapists in the least. The actions of these boys were indefensible and she deserved none of what they did to her. But she also exercised poor judgment.

Sure, in a world where sticking your fingers in someone's nose is also equivalent to sticking them in their vagina.

If you want to claim that nothing matters and therefore nothing should be outside the bounds of common courtesy and decency, go ahead. You won't get many takers.

I believe the original question is why are the considered different.

"Stupid" is your wording, and completely ignoring the point. She's not just being stupid, she's ignoring the risk of people taking advantage of her. Stupid is what comes from the mentality that "I should be able to get blackout drunk and expect that nothing bad will happen"

That is not a true and correct statement.

It has been shown time and time again people act differently in groups then they act be themselves.

Even if someone knows right from wrong, the herd mentality can and will influence a persons decision.

No problem, all is good in Gotham

1) The girl has paid the price of having her naked pictures passed around to her classmates at school.
2) The drunken boys have been convicted of sexual assault/rape.

How is the answer not completely obvious to you? A little common sense should tell you that some physical assaults are worse than others, and some do more damage than others. Are you really so lost that you can't rank them on your own?

Except some really bad things DID happen to her - not because she was stupid and not because she ignored the risk, but because those two boys CHOSE to do things they KNEW were wrong, as evidenced by their attempts to hide it after the fact.

That article you posted had some really good advice in it, that you really should look at again. When you see/hear someone doing something stupid, speak up. Don't wait until the bad things happen, because then it's too late.

You SHOULD be able to get blackout drunk and expect nothing criminal will happen to you. Everyone should.

What damage is caused by either finger her or putting their finger up a nose.

Hell, if they had punched her in the face and broken her nose they would almost certainly get less punishment.

The crimes of rape and assault are not dependent on how much damage is done. It's about intent, not results.
