Good for them. I am sure living with death threats is not an easy thing to do, swag or no swag. I hope they get billions.

I was honestly surprised they did not do so sooner. All the praise and opportunity he received since the incident are irrelevant to the fact that he and his family were wronged, and wronged in such a way that a legal remedy exists.

He'll lose so this all works out as far as the state is concerned. I feel bad for the kid, though, who's apparently been being used by his parents to make a political statement / cash grab from the start. This is going to shape his life forever and it could have been so much better.

He brought a fake bomb to school and was rightfully arrested and then ostracized by the community. Now his parents want to sue in the hopes of making school districts and American citizens more afraid to speak up or act against moslems. The only right outcome is that they lose and have to pay all lawyer/court fees, but given the current political climate they'll win and cost a school district money for doing the right thing. Either way, the true justice is that he now has to live his life surrounded by moslems.

He did not because people were starting to question his motive.

turns out the clock he "made" was really just a clock from Radioshack that he took the casing off of and put into a briefcase. He set an alarm that he knew would go off during the middle of class. When he first showed it to a teacher, the teacher said neat, but be careful because it kinda looks like a bomb. He then takes it and sets an alarm to go off during the middle of class because he wanted to show his teacher what he had built, even though he did not build it.

It sure looks like the kid was trying to get a rise out of his teachers, and pretended to build something he did not. Turns out the school called his bluff and shit got real. He waited to let things clam down, but we once again will see reports coming out questioning what his purpose was.

Didn't they "flee" the US, are sitting in Oman (?) now or some other, super-rich oil country in the M.E. suing the US TAX PAYER for this shit? For what, according to common sense, is not even relevant to them anymore since they are not even in the US anymore and I AM QUITE CERTAIN don't ever plan to return anyway. I have never, ever wanted to bitch-slap a little kid....but this one....makes it hard to resist.

Opted to 'have him take classes elsewhere'. The folks at the local madrassa must have recruited him - always looking for people that are good with timers.

This child of God should be drone strikes for daring to exercise his rights to use our court system.

Even with this interpretation the most he's guilty of is trolling tards; which I suppose tards believe there should be some punishment for.

Aaaaand this exactly why he gets to sue. Microsoft giving away some shitty surfaces for their own PR doesn't erase the state's culpability.

Good luck Texas trying to show how if he was a kid of another race/religion ( Chinese, African, European or Jewish) he would be arrested on suspicion of terrorism because of a shoddy electronics project.

And this isn't the first time Texas has done something this dastardly either; his sister was suspended for bomb threats just a few years prior! I mean, what are the odds? It's obviously the school district at fault.

Given they're probably one of the few if not only muslim families in the school, this likely isn't a beneficial line of inquiry for you.

Systemic hatred of Islam or a family of jackasses trying to game the system? Actually I would be quite happy if this went to a jury. I would like to see ALL the facts brought out. I highly suspect it won't. If no settlement is tendered, they will most likely go away.

So you believe they systematically frame all their Muslim students as terrorists just for the hell of it?

Given some of the comments above it's not reasonable to assume like-minded folks in texas see brown people who aren't mexican as terrorists.

No, I'm pretty sure it is until you give reasonable evidence. IIRC, a previous valedictorian of the same school was a Muslim and said she didn't have too many issues with discrimination, let alone being the target of a school-funded plot to expel all Muslim students with fabricated bomb plots.

In case you weren't aware, a valedictorian is simply given for a certain grade average. Given how obvious it was the clock wasn't a bomb and even the school authorities still can't tell it's not surprising the other muslim kid at school (who ostensibly can determine trivial facts) was top of their class.

That's not the usual definition of valedictorian I'm familiar with. lol @ your argument. "Yeah, well, the Muslim that didn't feel discriminated against was obviously stupid because she did well at a school for stupid rednecks, if she were a smart Muslim like clockboy & sis she would have been blackmailed and arrested"

I'm pretty lenient in the way I think about a lot of things, but at this point they ought to boot the case out of court and tell him to get on with his life.

Won't even comment on some of the other things posted.

It's simply a matter of fact that it takes minimal intelligence to determine whether an alarm clock is a bomb or not. It takes similar intellect to determine that "blackmail and arrested" and "discriminated against" are equivalent.

He wasn't arrested because they legitimately thought it was a bomb.
