Okay. I'll take an easy $400 any day. Appreciate the recommendation - I'll use the proceeds for a good 30 year Scotch. Thanks Hillary!

Good man, and good luck on the scotch, though I have a feeling you're more likely in for 8 years of tears than 30 year scotch :D

The moment your server is used instead of the official server, all emails should be available for scrutiny. A third party determine what is work related and what can be deleted and not archived.

Hillary initially provided printouts of what she considered work email and initially refused to hand over the server. Only after pressure and after she deleted 30k emails did she turn in the server.

I still do not understand why so many people back Clinton for doing this. The last thing we need is more secrets and innuendo. I prefer an open and transparent government. And no public servant should be treated differently.

And the fact that the emails were apparently recoverable by the FBI corroborates her story that no effort was made to "wipe" or destroy the deleted emails. Funny that.

It's never been that way. Why do you pretend?

She was under no legal obligation to turn over the server until the FBI asked for it. Turn it over to who else, exactly? Judicial Watch? Please. The State Dept didn't ask for it.

As has been pointed out many times she enjoyed the same discretionary powers as her predecessors as to what went into the official record but Righties see this as being different because... Hillary. Always a double standard because Hillary.

What is so hard to understand about our rights as citizens to discover government employees correspondence and that they must not only be on servers that comply with that ability but also the risk of confidential data being in some bathroom server that any script kiddie hack could get into.

Truth be told, the Scotch was a joke. I actually intend to donate all the proceeds to a local charity so that I can have them include a thank-you to Hillary Clinton not being president in their press release. ;)

When confronted with reality, simply invoke the way you wish is was & add a bit of fanciful derision to go along with it.

Because Hillary.

I think you accidentally included an updated signature in your "Because Hillary" reply. Just a heads up.

Unfortunately this is where your mental limitation of "there can only be 2 sides" kicks in.

I don't give a fvck who the government employee is, the law of the FOIA says they are ALL discoverable. My guess is you are on a technical forum but have no idea how the back end of any of this works do you? No knowledge of email retention, you don't even know what I mean by a discovery.

You are as bad as explaining to a Christian where Atheist moral values come from without a bible. Just circular self made arguments.

Last time he tried to technically school someone by whipping out 5 year old forum posts which were outright wrong today while being blatantly condescending about professional aptitude, which is pure comedy gold. Half of the things he writes are pure gibberish.

Truthfully, if the other half of what he wrote wasn't generally admirably coherent I'd think he was just trolling. As it stands I think he's just got a mental disability, likely some form of functional autism. No clue why he's on a tech forum, but if you generally just treat people like this as only "half there", since they legitimately are, then you won't get too fussed over the strange things they think, say, and do.

Well that sheds some light on it. Thanks for the half there advice ;)

So, just to be clear, we're not even pretending this has anything to do with Benghazi, or FOIA, or "wiped" emails. This is now just digging through her old emails to find embarassing shit to publish.

Got it. Carry on.

Let me get this straight - you think that just because she did it in the past and we're now finding out about some legitimately corrupt actions, we should care less?

I can't speak for everyone, but I've never made anything about e-mail, Benghazi, whatever. My beef with Hillary is that she's a fucking lying snake! The fact that history just keeps proving that true seems to be hard for you to accept.

Edit: Full disclosure, I also stand to donate $400 to charity in her name if she is not the next president. ;)

So just to be clear, since this corrupt activity comes out as part of an investigation into something else, we should ignore it. Got it

I'm assuming why there was such an effort to conceal these emails precisely because they contain stuff that's embarrassing or damaging to the campaign.

I love it. When I point out that what you want is divorced from the reality of the way things are you turn insulting.

As has been pointed out repeatedly, the process works like this-

Per both the DoJ & the State Dept, the SOS & others have the right to delete emails they deem to be personal from the official record. There never has been any oversight in that regard. That's true of documents as well. It was entirely at their discretion, always has been. It reflects the level of trust placed in them by Congress & the Chief Executive when appointing them to that office. That's particularly true for any cabinet member- past, present or future.

Mere fact. Assertions to the contrary have no basis in reality.

When a FOIA request is made, the State Dept in this case reviews that official record, removes information deemed classified after the fact if there is any & releases the information.

Just the way it is, like it or not. That's subject to change by legislation, executive order or a SCOTUS decision, of course.

Yeh, I thought it was incoherent when you diverted into information recovery from failed drives when there are no failed drives to deal with even as you asserted that nothing can be recovered from properly wiped drives. What was the point, anyway? Blowing your own horn?

I'm actually surprised that the drives weren't wiped when the server was retired, something quite customary in private enterprise.

Please cite your source where I spoke about information recovery from failed drives.

I only ever recall talking about various methods to recover data from an improperly wiped RAID array by method of controller emulation on individual drives. Given that, it would certainly be incoherent if you remembered me doing something I didn't do. Just because you lack the technical understanding to comprehend what I wrote does not magically change it to fit your narrative.

How has the fact that nobody has come to your aid on your silly tirade not tipped you off to the fact that you're wrong?

Hey, just because the woman is a sociopathic lair, does not preclude her from being POTUS. On the other hand, if the SOS during this time were Dick Cheney, the libs would be calling this the political crime of crimes in the history of the US. If a Bush Foundation raised tens of millions of dollars from foreign leaders, while he was President, they'd be calling for a special prosecutor. It's not the crime, it's who the perp is.

You should definitely not vote for Hillary Clinton for President. You should vote for Bush, or Trump, or one of those really awesome Republican candidates.

"I'm assuming why there was such an effort to conceal these emails precisely because they contain stuff that's embarrassing or damaging to the campaign."

Could be rephrased as:

"I'm assuming why there was such an effort to secure these emails precisely because they contain stuff that's embarrassing or damaging to the campaign."

And you've arrived at the truth. It's a political scandal. Nothing more.

I'm not saying you should ignore corrupt activity. I just hope you hold everyone to the same standard in that regard.

Cheney was never Secratary of State, but even if he had been, this e-mail sin would have paled in comparison to the war mongering that led to Op. Iraqi Freedom. So no, not the policial crime of the century.

I mean, you'd think HRC shot someone in the face with a shotgun.

Candidly, if Bernie doesn't win I'm very likely going to decide to leave the US. I MIGHT stomach Trump, but not due to integrity - I think I'd be willing to give him a chance because he's the only other person running anti-establishment, which is simply the only way I think our country will survive.

That's just my opinion. I don't consider myself to be politically affluent.

The primary difference for myself, and possibly others, is that Cheney is not running for President.

Yes, it's a scenario of lesser of evils but still a very important one, nonetheless.
