I'm pretty sure that is incorrect. I am a US citizen. My wife is not (yet). If we have a child - regardless of where it is born - the child would be a US citizen based in my citizenship. (I was told this by state side USCIS)

Fair enough... I won't argue the point and I'm too lazy to find out. I couldn't remember the details. All I know is that no one is contesting his citizenship; they're contesting whether or not he was born here.

Ahnold is a citizen, but he sure as hell isn't running for POTUS on my watch.

Based on the way the McCain / Palin ticket has run their campaign, don't you think they would have pounced all over it if there was any validity whatsoever?

Because they've remained mum on the issue, it's only logical to conclude that this crap about his birth certificate is beneath even the levels they are willing to stoop to.
 
Well, there sure is some interesting case law here. I don't know all the facts in this specific allegation so will withold comment. However teh below is from Wikipedia.

US Supreme Court cases relating to citizenship, generally
Although the U.S. Supreme Court has never specifically addressed the meaning of "natural born citizen," there are several Supreme Court decisions that help define citizenship:

Dred Scott v. Sandford, 60 U.S. 393 (1857): In regard to the "natural born citizen" clause, the dissent states that it is acquired by place of birth (jus soli), not through blood or lineage (jus sanguinis): "The first section of the second article of the Constitution uses the language, 'a natural-born citizen.' It thus assumes that citizenship may be acquired by birth. Undoubtedly, this language of the Constitution was used in reference to that principle of public law, well understood in this country at the time of the adoption of the Constitution, which referred citizenship to the place of birth." Montana v. Kennedy, 366 U.S. 308 (1961): A person born in 1906, whose mother was a native-born citizen of the United States and whose father was a foreign citizen, who was born overseas and then moved to the United States, was not a citizen of the United States by birth. (Note that the relevant laws have changed considerably since 1906, so this decision does not necessarily apply to later cases.)

If I had my choice between McCain/Palin and Schwarzenneger/Stallone - that'd be a pretty easy vote to cast.
 
Plenty of undocumented immigrants have illegally obtained documents so they can get a job. Maybe Obama did the same thing. I say bring on the recorded evidence and start deportation hearing today.

The real reason that Obama went to see his grandmother was to tell her to shut up.

I'm making an assumption that Obama's candidacy would be ruled invalid. Whether that would make Hillary next in line or how it would be actually handled, in truth I don't know.

The bets were figurative.

The bolded is a ridiculously false statement. A certificate of live birth is a legal document, just as valid as a birth certificate (or even more valid depending on the state), with which one can use to prove legal citizenship in all cases, including getting a drivers license or applying for work.

What is racism (since you went there) is not questioning the citizenship of the white candidate despite the fact that he has not provided his birth certificate (or any equivalent document) and is known to have been born in a foreign country (Panama). Combined with the fact that Dems were gracious on this issue earlier this year and passed a specific law confirming that McCain was eligible for the Presidency despite this lack of evidence, and yeah... these endless attacks on Obama's citizenship despite all the documentation he has provided do begin to smack of racism.

To me they smack more of comical desperation. It's quite amazing to watch. Now that I am increasingly sure that we're insulated from McCain as a president, these posts from people like pisabird and elias824 are less "Oh sh*t, we need to shut these clowns up quickly before they screw us again." and more "heh, they are so clueless, but a funny distraction."

funny I remember trying to use the certificates the hospital issued when my kids were born.
And was told specifically that they were Not the same as a birth certificate and could not be used in lieu of it.
