Cleopatra is clearly a minor Goa'uld and the pyramids are landing pads for spaceships. C'mon guys, get with it.

Perhaps the OP is correct, and it's also highly unlikely that teh Jesus wasn't the pretty white boy as he's been portrayed by anglo Christianity either...

Of course, there are some people that try and claim Jesus was black which makes just about as much sense as a blonde pasty Jesus.

the common description of Yahshua Ben Yosef was he was short, had dark skin, wooly hair and an underdeveloped beard. Now that could be a lot of different ethnicities of people. But I'd say people who claim he's black are at least on the right path, where the ones who claim he was Caucasian are smoking some hard core drugs.

The now ubiquitous image of the bearded long-haired Jesus did not become established until the Eighth Century.

makes you wonder what ethnicity Jesus really was.

I watched the Liz Taylor version last night. Good Lord, she had some delectable cans in 1963.

Patrica Velásquez made an excellent Egyptian for the Mummy. And she is hot.

This is exactly who I was thinking about.

I thought it was common knowledge ancient Egyptians werent "black". Hell even today they look semitic\arab. I had a buddy in highschool that was 1st generation Egyptian. He was definately not black. His entire family looked semitic\arab.

Though I think Thandie Newton could definately pull it off. And she looked pretty good in Chronicles of Riddick as a Necromonger wanna be queen! But who knows if they didnt try to get her for the part but scheduling didnt work or she didnt like the script?

The author of this article is a damned moron though.

Cleopatra wasn't Egyptian at all, but you're calling the author of the article a damned moron? Classic irony. So oddly enough, that means Cleopatra would look nothing like the Egyptian buddy you had in high school. Her father was Greek and mother was African according to the latest findings. African could mean many things, even... black!

Read what I wrote. I said nothing about Cleopatra. I specifically was talking about Egyptians.

Ok, but what does the facts that ancient Egyptians not being black have a damn thing to do with a person who wasn't Egyptian? This thread is about Cleopatra not Egyptians. So you're faulting the writer of the article because she believes something which may or may not be partially true. You were replying to a guy who said that so-and-so should be in this movie because she made a good Egyptian in the Mummy. And you said "exactly" to him, so you were agreeing that somebody who played an Egyptian in a movie would make an excellent Cleopatra. I see the ATOT logic there indeed.

Reading comprehension is a good thing. You should have more closely read my posts.

There are NO such "findings." Only speculation by ONE MAN.

From my previous post:

In 2009, a BBC documentary speculated that Arsinoe IV, the half-sister of Cleopatra VII, may have been part African, and then further speculated that Cleopatra’s mother and thus Cleopatra herself might also have been part African. This was based largely on the claims of Hilke Thür of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, who in the 1990s had examined a headless skeleton of a female child in a 20 BC tomb in Ephesus (modern Turkey) together with the old notes and photographs of the now-missing skull.[62][63] Arsinoe IV and Cleopatra VII, shared the same father (Ptolemy XII Auletes) but had different mothers.

In other words, it's bullshit. He looked at PICTURES of a long lost skull REPUTED to be that of her sister and claimed to be able to tell the racial mix, while we HAVE king Tut's skull and the conclusion has been racial mix CANNOT be determined by skull measurements.

Forensic artists and physical anthropologists from Egypt, France, and the United States independently created busts of Tutankhamun, using a CT-scan of the skull. Biological anthropologist Susan Anton, the leader of the American team, said that the race of the skull was “hard to call”. She stated that the shape of the cranial cavity indicated an African, while the nose opening suggested narrow nostrils, which is usually considered to be a European characteristic. The skull was thus concluded to be that of a North African.[49] Other experts have pointed out that neither skull shapes nor nasal openings are a reliable indication of race.

The SPECULATION you read about is the lone rantings of one man. And widely disputed by all others.

And finally, Cleopatra and her sister had DIFFERENT mothers, so it's moot to begin with. So please, stop throwing this out as some kind of proof.

Cleopatra came from an inbreeding Greek family surrounded by NON-black semitic Egyptians. The chances of her being black are slim, and none.

The woman is not a bitch. I didn't even pay attention to whether the person was male or female. She is entitled to her opinion and you yours. The info she uses is no more accurate or inaccurate then the sources you use.

This was my first post

As I stated very clearly I don't agee entirely with the writers assumption that it has to be a black woman. But given all the circumstances and questions surrounding Cleopatra, I think it would be no more far fetched having a black woman play the part, than it is having Jolie a white woman play the part. By my complaint with you and handful of others is, your attitude is a black woman is not good enough. There are a lot of black women better looking and more talented than Jolie. Lastly, its kinda funny the black woman who argues for a black woman to play the part is a race baiter. But here you are, a white person, arguing that a white woman should play the part. Well does that make you a race baiting bitch too?

She's a bitch because she had a bitch fest over her own ignorant assmuption that Egyptians and Cleopatra were black and that it's an insult to have a non-black portray her. Period.

I couldn't give a rat's ass what race portrays her. I am merely pointing out why she is wrong, and why she's an ignorant race baiting bitch for it.

Her opinion is based on ignorance, and Afrocentric revisionism. Period. She's a reactionary, Classy. And you're an apologist. Instead of being embarrassed for her and her blind ignorance, you defend her.

And there is no question surrounding Cleopatra. Only the speculation of one man who looked at pictures of a long lost skull of her HALF sister and made a claim of racial mix that cannot even be done with King Tut's skull, and we HAVE that one.

Perhaps if you werent in attack mode you could see I was making two points. One that I thought the actress from the Mummy movie would be a good cleopatra. This is regardless of Cleopatra's ancestry. When I thought of an actress besides Jolie she instantly popped into my head.

Second I am discussing ancient and present day egyptians in general. A lot of people seem to be under the impression all of Africa is black. Which includes the writer of the article. Africa is a large continent with many racially diverse backgrounds.

I could have broken it up into 2 posts. But felt I could do it all in one and most people would be able to differentiate my points which are seperated by a paragraph. I was obviously wrong.
