I'm pretty sure all colas are mostly clear before they add the "caramel color"...

There was a vending machine at my school where I bought crystal pepsi daily. It was often sold out. I loved it. Damn shame. They should ride the wave of retro sodas and do a run of it.

When I was in high school they had a vending machine dedicated solely to Surge. It was 25 cents. Nobody drank anything else.

Never had crystal pepsi, I wouldn't hesitate in trying it though.

I miss Mountain Dew Pitch Black, Pepsi Blue, or Sobe's Mr.Green though I'm probably the only person who like them...

I like all of those--especially Mr. Green! Bring that back!

I had a lot of Crystal Pepsi when it came out. It didn't hold it's carbonation very well, and it had a weird "artificial sweetener" aftertaste. It was something you would buy just to try.

My father has a six pack of Miller Clear sitting in his basement. I was in middle school when the whole clear phase happened. I'm old.

A great American achievement. They finally brewed a beer so weak, it really is just fizzy water. :D

Now Orbitz I remember. It looked gross at the time. I imagine it would be like drinking bubble tea though. It was made by the same people who made Clearly Canadian. Another clear soda but it came in fruit flavours: peach, blackberry, dark cherry, and raspberry. Subway used to carry it, then it all but disappeared. They still make it but I have no idea where to buy it.

Pepsi Crystal I vaguely remember. There's been a few I liked that got discontinued. Cherry Coke and Lemon Pepsi are gone, in Canada anyway. Fortunately Vanilla Coke went with them. That stuff was disgusting.

I grew up in the 90's and I don't remember any advertising for clear pepsi. In fact I'm pretty sure I never drank it even once. I didn't drink much soda at all back then in fact.

i didn't drink it or soda as a kid either, but i definitely remember this commercial.

edit: i lied... i actually remembered THIS commercial

I tasted Orbitz, but never bought my own. I don't remember what I thought of it. It's a clever idea, and has great shelf presence. An alcohol company should make a sweet liqueur with the floaties in it. That would look great lighted on a bar shelf. I've gotten Clearly Canadian from BigLots. It's too sweet for my taste though.

I remember Surge. That stuff was awesome. Better than Mountain Dew, used to drink it all the time.

Vault is the successor.

really? it seems weird, because my entire life I've associated the coke/pepsi color with the taste. it'd be kind of freaky to drink a clear soda and have it taste like a normal pepsi/coke.

fwiw I wasn't around when pepsi crystal was; if they brought it back us younguns will probably buy it just to see what it's like. they could do a limited release like Mt. dew does for some of its flavors.

I'd try it. I was alive for the Clear soda buzz, but I never had any of it - at that time, I wasn't really drinking much pop, and the folks never bought any of it.

I too think of it so oddly - I know pop is all artificial coloring, but it would just be weird to drink pop that is clear, and still taste like Coke. But the moment I ever saw it, I'd try it for sure.
