cablegod - sorry, never heard about your totaled SS :( Weren't you able to keep the engine mods?

Regarding the Lightnings, bone stock 99.9% of them break the 13s, how much over is really up to the engine. A Z28 should be able to keep about 1-2 car lengths on them if both drivers are "good" so to speak. Otherwise the Lightning will kill it off the line, and the only hope for the LS1 driver is that killer 3rd gear.

the lightning will kill it off the line with the heavy weight on the rear wheels, and I don't know the answer to this, but I thought all Lightnings were automatics? that sort of eliminates driver error that you mention RagingBitch. but I could be wrong

Vallhalla,

You are correct.... like more and more vehicles these days it comes with Auto only (at least according to C&D from 9 months or so ago).

Mash the pedal and point the car has replaced shifting as part of the racing equation.

You'd be surprised at how many L drivers leave a thick patch of rubber on the road trying to take off the line. A lot of L drivers throw a couple of sandbags in the rear of the truck because without it there's very little traction whatsoever without them.

what is the rated horsepower of the stock lightning, and how much heavier is it than the Z28?

Stock HP is supposed to be 375. More like 400. Then add a chip and new filter(no joke) and most L's will go low 13's or high 12's. Yes that is with sandbags in the back.

Nah, the rock quarry truck ran completely OVER my car. Like BigFoot. Completely totaled.

I need to find the link to the guy from camaroz28.com. His handle is TundraSVT or something like that (from Alaska). He has videos of his 2000 lightning laying the smack down on quite a few super quick high 12 sec-low 13 sec cars.

I would love to run the guy here in my town. he has a white 2000 lightning. He doesn't do anything when I run up on him though.
