You know water and sewer can be linked to the same pipe, right? I didn't realize that for the first few hours and thought they couldn't cross. My city's underground was turning into a puzzle game.

I almost wish that you could set a default of "If I put down a section of road, just put down a sewer pipe too"

Probably 95% of my roads have sewer running under them as well.

Your links never work 🙂

I am not trying to link anything lol. Must be something in my sig that throws off the forum parser when I go to edit my messages. I actually go back to edit my messages to try to take it out, but keeps coming back. To lazy to edit my sig.

lol, that must have been a nice "doh" moment.

The water/sewer management is what kills me every game. lol
I seem to spend more time dealing with those issues than anything.

Question about loans. What happens if due date comes and don't have the money?

As another member mentioned, the sewage pipes and water pipes are the same pipe, it actually lays down two pipes if you look close enough.
So put 1 incoming water plant upstream , 1 sewage downstream, so do don't suck up the the crap 🙂 and should be fine, once unlock treatment, change sewage to treatment and no more pollutions.

For the loans, it takes a bit ever week, until its payed back

Just make sure you put your sewage down stream and your fresh water upstream.

It also helps to keep industry on a separate water system.

Only after you connect them though. When you first put down a water pipe, it's just blue. When you connect a pipe the sewer, it turns brown. It's when you connect the two with a junction that all the pipes turn into two pipes.

Does the incineration destroy trash in landfills, or just future trash pickups?

If you set the landfills to empty, the contents should be brought to the incinerators. You can watch where the trash trucks go, or click on them and the popup window will tell you where they are going. If you have more than 1 landfill, I have seen them empty to other landfills. I'm not sure if that is simply pathing-based and a bug, or due to something else.

That guy has student loan amounts up there with some doctors but is in game/art design? Wow. He is totally screwed.

I got this the other day. haven't installed it since my v-card died and i'm stuck using the onboard video.

but it looks great

Anyone want to share tips for the beginner? Common mistakes to avoid?

Incinerators and Crematoriums have a limited range (i think)

Traffic management is more important than ever, many structures don't exert influence over a range like they did in sc4, a police station will send out cars to deal with crimes, if they get stuck in traffic jams well... crimes don't get dealt with, city collapses, same goes for other services, healthcare, garbage, deathcare etc.

Offices satisfy industrial demand, not commercial. They also generate less traffic and pollution, but they dont generate goods for the commercial sector to sell

Left click to change the direction of a one way road, think you may need to have the road upgrade selected for this

One way roads go in the direction you drag to construct them, theres arrows on the road that show this

Solar is the cheapest power source, wind is the next cheapest, hydro never works (for me anyways)

You cant draw your own roundabouts, they just end up as circular intersections littered with traffic lights, use the roundabouts already in game as they have no traffic lights (good thing!)

Railways suck and are a pain to setup (except for cargo), use subway stations instead

If anything annoys you (like having to bulldoze burned down buildings) look on the steam workshop for a mod. Mods are easy 1 click things now, you don't even have to close the game down, might need to reload your city though. Gone are the days where mods were a pita to install and once installed you cant get rid of them

:

No range, just limited to amount of garbage trucks you have. The longer they have to go the more they complain of course. I just make 6 land road and end of district had they work fine.

Hydro needs power to work, make simple dam, attach it with power to city..viola. Works for me. Might be you need a pumping station on otherside of it to keep water from going over it though. Have not really experimented with that yet though, just have a simple one that water stays behind.

Roads are a PITA for sure. I thought i could just attach 6 lane roads to highway into a town..they started backing up on highway..pretty much need roundouts anytime you exit highway.

I am thinking rail roads are bugged with low demand. *Shrugs*

Any tips for the metro routes? Does each route have to expand to massive parts of the map or can they interconnect like a real city? Like take the "d" train to the "c" train connector.

My other trouble is you can't build a highway ahead of time. So by the time you expanded, you pretty much have to level half your city to build a better road. Traffic is becoming a big challenge for me.
