I applied for that today and used the offer code to get 10,000 bonus points good for $100 gift card. 5% on Gas, Groceries, and drugstore purchases. Flat 1% On everything else. I think they stopped issuing this card, but I got approved when I filled out the app form. I'll let you guys know how this turns out.....

I also have this card, but there's been rumors that this one is going away for awhile as well..I guess we will just see how it goes

yea, but you don;t want that 1%. Chase perfect card gives you 1% CASH applied to YOUR NEXT STATEMENT!

Pentagon Federal Credit Union CC applies 1.25% off to your current statement. Also, only fees for using it aboard is the 1% Visa fee (a lot lower than almost every other card). So you are still making .25% aboard. You can get the card if you are a relative of someone in the armed forces or pay an one time $20 membership fee to a miltary organization.

Has anyone heard of the Advanta travel card referred here? I travel weekly so 5% back would be awesome.

I have the Advanta Business Card and they just put it under my name. They did want to know who I worked for when I applied, but the card was set up under just my name. I verified on-line that the card is not associated with any business. I've had the card for over a year now, no problems at all.

I have the Travel card which has 5% Cash Back on Airfare, Hotels, Car Rentals and Dining.

I believe they are more strict when approving cards now, so YMMV

Well that sucks. At least I pass $50 this period...

I use the card for everything, then pay it off in full online. Might as well get my 1% in, even on the BS purchases.

I'm thinking of buying a new motorcycle in a few days, and I might try to get that on the card too

The costco one is good because of the 3% off eating out and 1% off everything else, 2% off some stuff I forget.

But I just got the Citi Dividend Amex today and I'm gonna try to get the $50 before October 13. I drive 120 miles every week day.

I'm pretty sur ethey will match Citi in the end.. even if they stay a little longer with the 5%, it will be very temporary..

Once you focus in on that 5% rebate (as opposed to their 1% which I'm sure still allows them to make money), and you only get the card for that, and ONLY use the card for the 5% offers, you've cost Citibank money. It was only a matter of time.

Still, it blows.

Which is exactly why I got the card in the first place -- for gas and food (grocery stores). Oh well, in the year or so that I've had it, I've gotten much more cash back than I paid in finance charges. :)

I got my letter today, 2% :( But it looks like the 2% covers other things, although they don't list too many items. Man, I use that card to pay all my bills and use the cashback for vacation money every year. Bummer! :p

Edit: Did I mention the cashback was the sole reason I got the card??

I thought the conclusion on fatwallet was that they were winding that card's benefits back too... discover has already wound back their gas card....

Worst case scenario- They nerf the card in 4-6 months, but I still get a half a year of benefits, plus the $100 gift card for signing up :)

Well, maybe not the sole reason - I got rejected by American Express "due to insufficient established credit." I couldn't get my first credit card from them because I had never had a credit card before, makes perfect sense :disgust:

They were probably losing too much money, I mean, talk about the AT Effect :D

Even the 3rd party sites are marking it as unavailable.

Good luck with that giftcard :)
