Well, I may be applying to switch over my Amex Blue to a Costco Amex sooner than I'd intended.

Should switch ASAP because Costco amex gives you 3% off eating out =). Amex Blue is stupid because you need to spend a buttload to get those 5% (or was that blue cash... bleh, I get confused)

Oops, Blue Cash.

In any event, I wanted to wait to switch since I already have a huge load of inquiries on my report as it is (new cell phone plan, new landlord, and two necessary credit line increases in the last four months). I don't eat out often enough right now so it's not a big worry, but, really, there's no comparison between the two cards.

By the way, I think a lot of us who saw the fiascos with black Friday and other rebate issues saw this coming. Once you focus in on that 5% rebate (as opposed to their 1% which I'm sure still allows them to make money), and you only get the card for that, and ONLY use the card for the 5% offers, you've cost Citibank money. It was only a matter of time.

Still, it blows.

Damn, I've had my MC Dividend for almost 2 years now. I guess when the dust settles, everyone, including me, will just flock to the highest cashback card, whether it be chase or citi or someone else. I guess I also wouldn't mind if they keep the 5% program but turn it into ThankYou points. I can easily absorb my rebate on work clothes at Gap or BR.

As posted on FW, HSBC has a 5% card available. But you have to wonder if all 5% cards will become extinct once Chase and Citi get rid of them.

I saw a Shell cc offering close to 5%, I think it was $0.14 per gallon.

After this happens I'll probably apply for that cc and use my CitiBank Dividend Platinum cc less.

Been expecting this for a while. Kind of sucks, but I guess it doesn't affect me much. I spend about $40 a month on gas and get most of my food at Costco.

Guess what? We went to CostCo today! Instead of spending the usual $100 we walked out buying a GameCube game and polish sausage with drink, total damage was under $18.

Great game! That's the only GameCube game that I bought new, and when it first came out no less! $50. Most of the rest of my games I got used for <$12 at GameStop or EBGames

IIRC, the Shell cc is a Citi Platinum Dividend card just with the Shell logo (so may not be able to go to different gas stations and still get 5% or whatever it will be).

Thanks for the info. I was curious what 14% per gallon equaled and it was very close to 5%.

Do you know if the old Chase Perfect Card still pays 3% on gas/supermarket/drugstore purchases? Sh!t I don't even know where my Chase cc is, I haven't used it in over 2 years. If they do still offer it, I'll have to call and get a replacement card sent out.

Thanks, we loved playing it on the PC but I imagine it will be even more fun on our new 50" DLP HDTV 🙂

Once we saw the $15.99 price, I was sold.

Chase Perfect Card still pays 3%. I hate Chase, but I use this card. Can't refuse free money.

Why do you hate Chase?

I make all my payments on time and never go over my limit, I've never had a problem with them.

Looks like I'll be using my Chase Perfect Card more often now.

their system sucks. I have a perfect card and an amazon card through them. The amazon card gets used only for amazon purchases and the perfect card gets used for everything else.

When my perfect card was abput to expire they said they mailed me the new card, but I never got it. They decide to send me a new card with a different number and cancel my current card. So I am forced to use my amazon card for all my purchses for the next four days. After every 3 purchases I had to call in and verify my purchases. Even AFTER I told them I'm going to be using my amazon card ALOT until I got the new perfect card. It was so embarassing having my card declined at Macys trying to buy a piece of luggage and having to wait there while the sales guy tries to figure out what happened. Took 10 minutes and I had to call up Chase.

The charges i had to verfiy that day were $30 in gas and $12 for lunch at an IHOP type place.

I hate their business practice. Never had problem with them but I know they used to screw lot of people by offering 0% balance transfer for the life of the balance then raising the rate to like 20% later even if that person made every payment on time. Clark Howard used to get all kinds of complaint call about Chase pulling this dirty trick.

Nooo! I still want 5% on gas! I knew I shouldn't have thrown away that other credit card application with 5% gas, but I think it was only for BP stations or something.

Sucks that my friend just got his Div Plat card and now they are going to change the rates. :/

Chase Cash Plus Rewards Card

I applied for that today and used the offer code to get 10,000 bonus points good for $100 gift card. 5% on Gas, Groceries, and drugstore purchases. Flat 1% On everything else. I think they stopped issuing this card, but I got approved when I filled out the app form. I'll let you guys know how this turns out.....
