Someone is using their phone and talking loudly in the Cinema, what do you do?

  • I express my displeasure with them and ask them to stop

  • I exit the screen and inform the nearest employee so that they deal with it

  • I sit quietly and say nothing, feeling irritated

  • It doesn't bother me

  • I'm one of those people.

I don't think I've ever had anyone disrupt me from talking on the phone at the movies, however, I have had people disrupt me by yelling at the screen the whole moving, giving advice to the main character or making fun of the movie. In those cases, I just sat there annoyed as there was no use getting into a argument with a group of people.

You think I'm joking? Have you heard about anyone or everywhere of people that hijack a whole block of flats? Then when police bust such flats they find months old dead bodies in the elevator shaft, millions and millions dollars worth or drugs and 20 to 30 people living in a single bedroom flat. All illegal nigerians. So it's not a joke or a lie. That movie really make sort of fun of that thats why I laughed my arse of watching it.
What country are you from?

I have never actually been to a movie where someone was on their phone, or decided to text during a movie...I too used to work at a movie theater back in high school, and I also never saw this either...maybe it's a UK thing 😀

Usually I'm quiet and just watch the movie with my date or my friend whomever I'm with.

But, it depends on the movie ....

I mean some movies are so terribad, that I can't help but comment. (usually I watch those at home.)

Otherwise, I usually give the idiot teenyboppers who like to be loud in movie theaters dirty looks and growl/grumble a bit, which usually intimidates them

Really? I see people text/email during a movie all the time around here. We went to see the new Sherlock movie on opening weekend with her family. The theater was packed and you could see phones open and close constantly all over the theater

Its one of the reasons my wife and I rarely go. When we do we go see a movie that has been out for a while during times the theater won't be busy

Well, you don't have to go out to deal with that ... just wait for bluray/dvd/netflix 🙂

Yeah - I wasn't excited AT ALL about going to see a big movie on opening weekend but... *shrug*

We do usually wait - I think we saw a total of 3 movies in the theater last year

I will always say something but my wife is the manager at our local theathre so she does too. I dont mind telling someone off who is being rude to everyone around them.

I texted at the last movie I was in before MI4 and GwtDT.

But it was 30 Minutes or Less. Like three weeks after it had opened in the middle of a weekday. I was the only one in there. I felt like it would be OK but that is the only situation I might text in a theater. Or, if there's less than 10 people and I'm sitting BEHIND everyone. If I'm in front of someone, I wouldn't do it.

I have never heard someone talking on the phone during a movie.

If they're texting and they have their phone on 100% brightness, ask them to stop. If they have it at a reasonably dim level that isn't bothering anybody, get over it.

I only go to the theatre for midday Sunday showings where it's only a few old people there. Anything else is not worth the aggravation.

Was I the only guy who liked that movie?

Still haven't watched it, but netflix seems to have like 90% positive reviews for it ... supposed to be really good .... So, there are a lot of people who liked it ... (at least the original, I did see a preview for a remake, which I don't plan to see)

I thought the new version was actually better than the original swedish film. Regarding the OP, if someone was txting I usually don't mind but I've had a few people talking on their phones near us and I politely tell them to please STFU. Repeat offense involves me taking phone and launching it like Tebow on a Pittsburgh-Broncos overtime game.
