I've never said that Cindy is as pure as the driven snow. I have said she has the right to protest to her hearts content. The people against her have the right to do that also.

I thought I was clear? The crap they're throwing at her doesn't seem to be sticking as well as the crap she's throwing at them.?? Or maybe you think it is? I don't, and I ask myself why?? The only answer I come up with is that the public identies with her and her viewpoint better then the opposing viewpoint.

I think people are realizing what a money pit GWB threw us into and that he purposely mislead us to do it, for the benifit of the military-industrial complex. Most people call them the elite, he calls them his base.
Well then now I'm confused as to the current argument. I don't think too many are arguing that Sheehan doesn't have the "right" to protest (flame thread posted in P&N not withstanding), just that her 'message' is a bit clouded by her history, actions, and associations.

I mean, you can have the most universally truthful message in the world - such as "Children are important" - but if during your protest you tout your NAMBLA card and marching around with dead babies on pikes, people are going to question your motives and the sincerity of your statements, no?

*That* seems to be the argument here. Not whether Sheehan has the right to protest, but whether her message has any merit based on her past and current behaviors. The right extremists are guilty of emotional appeals against her, but the left radicals are just as guilty of emotional appeals for her. Only someone decidedly biased would recognize one and ignore the other.

I'm ashamed for Cindy Sheehan, she's dishonoring her son by using his death as political fodder. It truly is insulting, and it's only made worse because our military is made up of volunteers and not conscripts.

I am sure she could care less than I do that you feel that way. You are entitled to your opinion. The people that knew Casey best, her mother and father say otherwise. I wonder how much time and effort and for that fact money, people are trying to throw at Patrick for him to change HIS tune and become a Bush Fanboi?

Perhaps his mother didn't know him well enough if he volunteered for a profession of arms and she likes to spout anti war slogans?

Did the organization that was paying her stop paying for the hotel room that she was staying at? If so, was it because it was pointed out that she was staying in a hotel room rather than the tent, as had been being reported?

Perhaps, but I would take the word of his parents over the anon email sent by his aunt any day.

Do you know WHY she's sleeping in a hotel room? Because the county sherriff ASKED her to because of DEATH THREATS.

I don't blame Cindy for what she is doing nor do I blame the mother of a Marine who wishes mourners honor her son.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co...rticle/2005/08/17/AR2005081701602.html

The mother of a Marine killed in Iraq urged mourners Wednesday not to let their anger and sadness turn them against the U.S. fight in Iraq.

"Honor me in this way," Kathy Dyer said during a memorial service for Lance Cpl. Christopher J. Dyer, 19, of the Cincinnati suburb of Evendale.

At the funeral at Tri-County Baptist Church, Kathy Dyer delivered what she believed would have been her son's own message: "It has been with the greatest pride I have served ... fighting to preserve freedom."

Now wouldn't it be stupid of the left to critisize her motives?

I dunno, would it?

At least with this woman she leaves no doubt that her comments are actually about her son and shows respect for HIM and not her personal politics. If she went on to pimp Bush or make comments about supporting Israel no matter the cost it would be a different story.

Sheehan seems to be more about her personal politics than her son, which is why I see her little tantrum in Crawford as less than honest.

Yet another day at the black v white office, I suppose.

QFT. Why is that though?

Dunno. I mean, don't get me wrong, this place would be dead if we all decided to "just get along," but the constant habit of immediately taking the stance 180° from your political "enemies" is just brain-dead stupid and reeks of "sheep-like" behavior.

But we all know only *one* political party is comprised of "sheeple," the other obviously being full of independent free-thinkers. 😉

It's amazing that the GOP mouthpeices have become so right winged extreme that the Conservative Moderates & Moderate Right have become their 'Lefist Liberals'

I'm curious when the GOP/conservobots will morph "radical leftist" into "terrorist?" It's bound to happen soon if not already.

It'll probably happen soon after the DNC/libereeple proclaim that Bush is Hitler and the US is now a fascist state. 😉

Although he is no Hitler (not many can live up or down to those standards) we are moving right along on the fascist state part of it. Guess who has been in control for the last decade while this slide has gotten steeper and faster?

I love it. You can't argue with the truth in her message so the best you can come up with is a lame attack on the messenger. :|
