Christmas tree thread. Lets see them!

I do, with mixed success. One year I cut off too many roots on the initial extraction, and last year's got hit by the landscaper's weedwhip.

This is the best one. Pic was taken August last year. I didn't capture the sparkling dew you could see in person. I think this was from five christmases ago. It started about the same size as the tree in this thread...

Our tree is still in its box in the garage. Wife had a mini-stroke about 10 days ago. Spent a week in the hospital, she's now in a skilled nursing facility where she's SUPPOSED to be getting some physical therapy...hasn't happened yet. IF she's going to come home for Christmas, I'll bust a move and get the tree up and decorated...and some of the misc. decorations she puts up in the house...if not...fuck it.

Best of wishes to you and your wife, hope she recovers soon. In the meantime, you might want to bring the tree to her!

I will have to post some pics soon.

heh...I thought about that...sort of. 5 years ago, when we were waiting for the purchase of our house to close, we spent 3 weeks living in our motorhome. I picked up a small artificial tree (18" high?) that we put a couple of tiny ornaments and a string of fairy lights on...and stuck it on the dashboard of the MH. (I also used some small command hooks on the windshield to hang christmas lights.) We got into our new house just days before Christmas, so I got out one of our artificial trees, plugged it in...no ornaments...those were our trees that year. If she's not going to be home for Christmas, I'll take that tiny tree and ornaments to her room.

For my home office, I do what I call a "classy" Star Wars tree. It is thematically mostly chrome/silver color along with other non-Star Wars ornaments. The tree topper is a sweet Death Star that does all sorts of lights and sounds.

The tree that I have at my office desk is reflective of the days that I need to go into the office.

I have a couple of small, spindly blue spruce trees that the deer keep mauling as they knock the velvet off their antlers...they don't look much better than that tree. One of them gets the same "single red ball ornament" every year.

@Babbles +1 the cat door in the gate. 🙂
Ha, so it is actually for the dog as my home office has the cat food and the 80+ pound puppy dog loooooves to eat cat food.

We did have a baby gate when the kiddo was, you know, a baby. However, when we got the 4 legged baby, we needed to change it up for the cats was they are getting older.

Ah yes, the Christmas stroke. My mom had her first one last year 2 days after Christmas and her second one a week ago. (she is still with us). I was talking to the manager at her complex and she said that her dad had a stroke last year 5 days before Christmas. Maybe Christmas is getting too exciting and we need to calm things down. 🙂

Since your wife is married to you she must be strong willed and will crush the physical therapy. Glad to see you say she had a mini stroke and hope that means she still has movement in both sides.

I love where you live. I would like to start walking in those trees and come back in a couple of hours. Hard to find something like that in SoCal.

This is our first year for an artificial tree. It is impossible to find a good live tree around here. Plus this is so much easier'

If you look at our tree topper it is a star. For the past 20 years our son with autism has made the star for the tree. Last week the art studio where he goes a couple days a week had an art sale. He painted this apron and I had to buy it. Notice the star on top of the tree. 🙂

It's not much to look at, and I'm not much for decorating it (especially since the cats are inclined to liberate ornaments anyway), just a cheap pre-lit tree I got a few years back. And yes, the wall painting project is on hiatus for the moment. And the tree is on a table because there wasn't any other good spot to put it without involving effort that I didn't feel like putting in.
