Chris Matthews retires from MSNBC over Sanders remarks

I couldn't stand him. Every time he interviewed someone he would talk/shout over the interviewee and never let them get a word in edgewise. For years I tuned out whenever he came on air which is why I wasn't even aware of his recent controversial remarks.

No excuses. I think it's a generational thing to a certain extent. Also, I've noticed his mental lapses were becoming much more frequent in the last couple of years. I was thinking he really should retire. At least he did the right thing. You'd never see just about anybody resign in this day, and in this business until you are just about forced out.
I'm not so sure he left voluntarily, I think he was given a choice due to his service to the network. leave on your own or be shit-canned.

That's his style; that's why it was called "Hardball". He was a tough interviewer to both friend and foe.

Whether or not you liked his style, he was very effective at what he did.

He also did it to catch the interviewee off guard and to get them to actually tell the truth. A great example of this was his interview with trump.

He interrupted when he sensed question is being ducked. He was like a pit bull with a leg of lamb.

He would ask questions then talk over the answers entirely because he preferred to talk instead of listen. Too often it wasn't playing "hardball." It was just acting like a dick.

Aw come on....
It's probably nothing as mentioned in the media or has nothing to do with women or Sanders.
Chris recently got back from vacation and Chris most likely enjoyed his vacation so much, and enjoys having the financial stability to do most anything Chris wants to do, and especially at his age, that I would bet all Chris wanted was to retire and spend his golden years writing books and traveling the world. Especially while his face wrinkles were showing up more and more, and that is not good if you are on TV. I'd guess Chris simply wanted out and this was the fastest way to exit.

NOW, Chris can retire, relax, travel, write, can do anything and everything while he still has his health and physical mobility.
Everyone should see the world before they die.
So so sad we have such a fantastic world to explore yet less than 10% of the people ever get a chance to explore it.
Elvis and Michel Jackson took a different route, they orchestrated to have their own death faked thus, never having to be bothered again. Chris wanted out in much the same way but Chris didn't have the financial means to fake a death and so he allowed simple humiliation to end his career. Not quite as effective as death faking, but it will do. Especially for a Chris Matthews.
Gawd, I swear... people will fall for anything if it's in print or on social media.

At my age, with Willie tired and droopy, I have serious sneakers for Stephanie Ruhle, Leigh Ann Caldwell, Katy Tur. Stephanie Ruhle is about 45. If you watch her, she seems so, so fresh! What she does with her face is priceless. Sharp as a tack, for sure!

Matthews had always rubbed me the wrong way because he continually interrupts his guests. You know what they were going to finish saying, but he cuts them off.

And he didn't pay attention to my provable "theory" of the JFK murder. He actually felt compelled to respond to my e-mail remarks in his show without exploring it in a noticeable detail, and without mentioning me by name. It was maybe the day or day thereafter when he threw out his dismissal on the show.

I had responded too willfully to his classic remark that usually begins with "Because": Oswald was a Communist. I can't believe that people still believe that palaver. And the Right -- more recently during the aftermath of the Gabby Giffords shooting in 2010 -- always flip this old canard: "A right-winger couldn't shoot Giffords . . . . because . . . Oswald-was-a-Communist."

Only at most five people in the CIA knew definitely that Oswald was one of the 2,000 Marines trained for intelligence infiltration work. You don't get "assigned to work in an counterintelligence project in the states to James McCord and David Atlee Phillips" if you're a real communist. You don't get sent to the Monterey language school to learn Russian because you tell everybody you're a Communist-Marxist-Leninist -- counterintelligence sales promotions to infiltrate the KGB. You don't get sent there because you have so much spare time in your Marine Corps duties, that you need to pursue some independent self-development pastime at government expense. It became a sources and methods problem. They weren't going to reveal it because lives would be in danger. They weren't going to investigate it because it would lay bare several Cold War projects and strategies. Reasonable justifications for "national security" were plentiful for anyone who needed to know something.

Matthews still believes this bull-shit. He still traffics in it. The only similar case more laughable than either Trump and his Daddy Cruz story or Matthews, was Vincent Bugliosi being coached by Oswald's Handler through 1988 so he could defeat Gerry Spence in the BBC mock-trial of Oswald in that year, and publish his five-pound book in 2007. Trump still believes this bullshit, and he doesn't have a clue as to why believing it is understandably convenient. If you put his brain on the edge of a razor-blade, it would look like a sweet green pea on the Santa Monica Freeway. Republicans all believe it, and they always find a new opportunity to flip it to a new generation of the public.

They have to either believe it, or they have to be smart enough to continue the myth's propagation as some sort of Imperative Necessary Falsehood. The Smart Boys included Richard Helms and E. Howard Hunt, and they only suspected the origins and creator of the assassination plan. They weren't part of it.
Look at Bill O'Reilly's "Killing Kennedy" --- a regurgitation of Gerald Ford's "Portrait of an Assassin" encouraged by some who sat with him on the Warren Commission -- "necessary for national security", ya see. You can tell that O'Reilly really believes it. Personally, I can't let go that it feeds into "What's wrong in America."

Dummies . . . . Stupid, Effing Americans, the Canadians, the English and others of various national origin would say. I even remember a Russian college student I knew in the 1990s -- a pretty thing -- she leaned across a restaurant table, eyes wide open: "Who keeled Keen-nedy?! Who keeled Keen-nedy?!"

You found the Bernie/Biden sandwich in the fridge?
At least Bernie hasn't shown signs of mold and worms in the brain yet as Biden has....

Go ahead watch the video and then come back to and say you really think Biden isn't pre-dementia... I double dog dare you...

you might but if you do you're just a shill in denial.

Do you prefer Trump picking the next few supreme court justices or Biden picking the next few supreme court justices?

Trump, cuz he has practically a 110% chance to win against Biden. Sanders is getting bombed currently, but Biden will be nuked in the general.

It is #NeverTrumpUnlessItsBidenThenItsNeverBiden

I'd prefer having someone who can beat Trump and it's not Biden anymore... you didn't watch the video I gather? If we had the biden from 2008 or 2012 or even 2016 I would not be worried because in 2008 Biden beat Palin in their debate and in 2012 he did the same to Ryan...

If you think that the Biden of today is still the same as he was then you haven't been paying attention and you need to ask yourself the same question you snidely asked me...

If you can't then you're the one who is part of the problem.

I prefer to run whatever candidate gets the most Primary votes. Can you explain how Biden is getting more primary votes than Bernie?

He's the republican candidate for US Senate. While, Bernie Sanders is the radical leftist communist running for President trying to destroy trickle-down economics.

can you explain why the republican candidate for the US Senate whom I presume you mean is Biden is getting more Primary votes in the Democrats Primary?

Watch the video... it mentions they're both declining is that what you really want... two candidates with dementia symptoms debating each other? it would make a great satire I guess but I don't want it in real life at all.

No I don't want it but at least one is a decent human being. This is what the Trump era has wrought. My first choice was Mayor Pete

Decent? maybe maybe not on some issues...

but with a serious case of idiocy when it comes to trusting people who advocate wars....

Can you explain how Biden is getting more primary votes than Bernie?

James Clyburn's endorsement was a significant factor... among others

So the question is how do Biden staffers deal with their gaffe machine now that he is the main contender and will be expected to talk a lot more?

Joe Biden has led the Democratic field since entering the race last spring, largely on the strength of name recognition and the goodwill he’s built up within the party establishment. But some of his advisers have grown increasingly anxious as his gaffes pile up on the 2020 trail. Now, according to a new report, some Biden allies are proposing a plan to limit the bloopers: restrict his public appearances.

The article goes on with some examples but the first paragraph gives you the idea...

Okay let’s tie back to the big money thought.
How does Clyburns recommendation = big money?
The fact is more voters are voting for Biden without big money spending. This isn’t saying Biden’s campaign is broke or doesn’t spend money, I am saying Biden’s spending is on the low side.
