South China Sea: Beijing attacks US 'trouble-making'

Chinese state media have hit out at US "trouble-making" on the South China Sea, two days after Beijing summoned a US diplomat on the issue.

One commentary told the US to "shut up" on the subject, while another said it had "deservedly evoked curses"...

China lays claim to a U-shaped swathe of the South China Sea, overlapping areas claimed by the Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, Brunei and Malaysia.

There are thought to be significant oil and gas reserves below parts of the sea that are subject to ownership disputes...

It look like the US and China is not only battling it out at the Olympic.

Qing dynasty map shows no China claim in Spratlys

The U.S. should immediately dispatch even more F-22s to Japan and have at least two battle carrier groups in the vicinity of either Vietnam or the Phillippines at all times to prepare for eventual war with what will be the eventual Fourth Reich.

Ya our corperations and government helped bring China into the 21century so the 4th reich is worse than what china had 40 years ago . LOL

If there is a 4th reich coming look closer to home as our liberty disappears almost following what happened in germany in the 20s-30s

Fascism will not return in any size like it was in Germany.

It's not like our right wingers have been radicalized by the angry men on the radio trying to divide the populace against all those traitorous liberals, gays and commies for 2 decades. ;)

When we have it, it will be far more badass with far more flashy explosions and cool graphics 24/7 on Foxnews with tits and ass. USA style.

China and the US were allies in WW2.

What does that have to do with what he said? Anyway, this is how the chinese talk. When they are not full of histrionics they talk like a parent scolding a child. I find it entertaining because the fun really starts when one of their envoy or diplomat is around and making him lose his cool is comedy gold.

The poster most likely confused China with Japan.

"China and the US - both winners of two World Wars, shall we make it three?" wouldn't make any sense at all. (Yes, China and the US were Allies in WW1 too, although I indeed find The Great War a more fitting label. But the US weren't fighting the Japanese in that one, in WW1 Japan and the US were allies as well.)

It appears much more likely that it was another, but slightly confused, case of the very typical American habit of screaming "we saved/kicked your Franco-British/German ass - TWICE" at every opportunity.

The Chinese claims are absurd, but this issue is between China and the surrounding countries (Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, Brunei and Malaysia). US should just stay away and enjoy millions of Chinese slaves working for American companies.

It is the 5 trillion dollar per year shipping lane that will be affected, and a good portion of that is in the US interest. It will also affect the US naval movement, because the US naval force also use that shipping lane to move through the straight of Malacca.

Apparently China is pissed off at America because Russia and Philippine were allowed to join the RIMPAC 2012 exercise.

The exercises included units or personnel from Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Tonga, the United Kingdom and the United States.[12][13] Russia will participate actively for the first time[1], as will the Philippines, reportedly due to the escalating tensions with the People's Republic of China over ownership of the Scarborough Shoal.[14]

Maybe we should shut up? We're kind of overly vocal about China here, especially considering they are really more of our friend than foe.

If we're gonna start a world war with China, first lets create the vaults so we can emerge in 50 years to a world filled with super mutants, ghouls, and deathclaws.

Wow I have to say I never really got up to speed on this issue, but on what grounds is China claiming the Spratyl Islands? Those islands must be 500 miles away from the nearest Chinese coast and 50 miles from the Philippines and Malaysia.

According to Red China, everything in that area belongs to them in one form or another, including the Phillippines and Vietnam. A friend from Vietnam explained to me that it would be practically the equivalent of the U.S.trying to claim the entire Gulf of Mexico as its sole property. Which would be pretty ridiculous.

You laugh, except we're rather married at the hip currently. As time goes by China is going to wonder why the heck they're sticking around with such a fat, out of shape and broken partner as sexy new potential partners are springing up all around.

US owning the Gulf of Mexico? What a ridiculous notion indeed! Oh wait...*

*I'm not saying this makes China's actions justified.
