i think the US should fix it by leaving iraq and heading there next. the US should fight for those individual rights, plus who knows what natural resources they may be hiding there.

China may not be perfect, but it is a great place, and even the smallest moves in the right direction are moves in the right direction. You have to start somewhere.

Well they did set up protest zones to keep all the protesters hidden. FYI, you need a permit to protest so that you can be easily be rounded up and executed after the Olympics.

Big deal. Most countries, including the US, deny visas for similar reasons routinely. Any country has the right to deny foreigners entry for any reason whatsoever. It's too bad this kind of things goes on, but China is by no means alone in these kind of actions.

i am sorry, but i would like to add this about china and the olympics.

it seems these days nobody is going to be pleased about where the olympics are held. The sad fact about society is you can't please everbody. No matter what country they are held in, there are human rights abuses. I think only one country has the right to say there are no abuses but i don't think we'd like the olympics to be held there. I think giving the olympics to china is giving china a chance to be better, and we need to support and stand for that. We spend too much ime allowing the media to paint a poor picture, and we endorse the media for it. It's too bad that we have become a media driven society that needs instant news. instant news tends to sensationalize because it has to get the ratings. Stories become bigger then they are because nobody cares if they are not front page.

Nobody is going to be pleased because everyone competes to have the olympics in their own country. It's worth a lot of money. I don't give a damn if it was held in the USA, and we protests all over the place. I only give a damn when people try to bother the games as a way of protesting. People should have left the torcher bearers alone. They should have had some runners carrying banners and signs running with the torch, that would have been better. Giving China the olympics is like rewarding a child for bad behavior. China hasn't done anything to foster a better society there or abroad. It's not some global conspiracy to paint China as bad, it's just the cold truth of the situation. You're just an angry Chinese person in a America because nobody is excited about the olympics in your home country.
