Chilli without beans is just a sauce. A tasty sauce to be sure, but just a sauce.

But don't overwhelm the chilli with beans. Keep it in moderation.

If its going on nachos: Beans.
Also cheese.

If its coming out of a bowl beside my dinner plate: No beans.

If you put beans in your chili, that's on you. But if you serve me "chili" and leave out the "with beans" part I'll stab you in the eye socket with my Titanium Spork. Chili with beans is not the same as Chili.

Either. When any one in my family makes Chili and invites me over, I never know what I am going to get. No beans, mild, rectal flamage, chili beans, kidney beans, etc etc. I love it all.

beans a are a filler. i find that the farther north you go the more beans it has. it's kinda weird! I never put beans in my chili.

Wife is from WAY up North, she puts LOTS of beans in her Chili. (She is used to cooking for 5 kids & a husband!)

I like SOME beans in my Chili, just not a lot.

Topping, no damn beans

Bowl, either way works. As long as it's not 90% damn beans.

I put in a can of pinto and can of black for 3 lbs of meat in my chili. And I still fill out it's not thick enough for my taste.

I like beans in my chili. Without beans it's just meat sauce for pasta. I know real chili is just meat but beans and meat and sauce is awesome.

Unfortunately, I have never had chili without beans :(. It must be popular up here to include beans, as I can't say I even know anyone that makes beanless chili. I would love to hear a good recipe for chili without beans if anyone cares to share! I am certainly open to trying it.

forget the beans.

the real question is:

ground beef or chunks of lean beef?

Soy protein :^P

I'm not a huge chili fan, and I like vegetarian chili as well as meat chili, so I go for the cheaper, and leaner option of soy. I don't make it myself. It comes out of a can. I'm sure professionally made soy chili would be even better.

I've always thought of chili as "meat, chili powder, and whatever's in the pantry."

I've put spinach, corn, carrots, beans, beets, rice, pasta, tomatoes, and stuff I can't even remember in chili. I can't recall a mixture I didn't enjoy.
